Founded at the height of California’s Gold Rush, Sacramento offers visitors a fun mix of old and new. Hit up the historic sights a few blocks away in Old Sacramento; take a stroll to the state Capitol; or sample the farm-to-table food, local wine, microbrews, and coffee that are putting the city on the map. If you’re up for an outdoor adventure, be sure to check out the American and Sacramento rivers, or rent a bike and cycle along the scenic American River Trail. Our beautiful courtyard offers a peaceful space for guests to relax or grill a meal on the BBQ. And if you’re searching for an affordable outdoor wedding venue in Sacramento, this is the place: our courtyard easily transforms to a lovely outdoor venue for up to 80 guests – ask us how! The courtyard is also available to rent for showers, birthdays, and other celebrations.

1. You can't eat in the room but the kitchen is closed from 10:00 P.M. to 7:00 A.M. Ridiculous. You must be hungry by morning. 2. Guests must undress the bed linen themselves and bring it to the reception. I've never experienced anything like this before. What am I paying for? I don't recommend!!!

Super. Beautiful building. Very well maintained. Agreeable atmosphere. Very well organized. Breakfast included. Helpful and friendly staff. Very clean. Safe and secure. Not a party hostel. Good beds. Good shower. Approximately 5 blocks from the Capitol. Recommended.

What a fabulous hidden gem in Sacramento! My wife, my friend and I spent one night in the Private Double Queen room and it was cozy, well air conditioned for the Sacramento heat and gave us the perfect place to come and go as we explored the city. The large, well-equipped kitchen is spacious enough for many guests to bring-their-own food and prepare their own meals simultaneously. The gothic themed building is fun and the staff is super friendly. Shout out to Kira for taking some awesome photos of us!

I want to share with everyone so they don’t make the same mistake we did. We booked HI Sacramento which was formerly a hostel and is now a “venue” I use that term loosely, for our wedding ceremony and dinner. The manager or whatever she is, was the NASTIEST most RUDE person I have ever dealt with in my life. Not only was everything completely covered in bird feces (all railings, all sidewalk and stairs, all outdoor tables and chairs), we had to go around and pick up trash that was scattered around, the handicap lift only worked with a key we were not given so some of our guests including our grandparents had to leave and she kicked my handicapped mother with a placard out of the handicapped parking spot so she could park there, none of the lights outside came on at all for our evening ceremony and the topper was, she stole my wedding dress and other garments. She ruined our wedding and ended up making us late for our flight to our honeymoon because I was there pleading with her to return my wedding dress. When confronted about my dress she responded with, “the world doesn’t revolve around you”. We rented this place for 2 days and spent a decent amount of money to be treated awful and had to spend more money to buy cleaning supplies and labor to scrub off all the bird poo. Even our vendors called her since she wasn’t on the premises about the handicap lift and she yelled at them for asking. I am still in shock and disbelief that this “venue” is being run this way. I could go on and on about what we endured, please reach out if anyone wants more information. I wish I was warned before my wedding weekend and beginning of our honeymoon was ruined.

The hostel was clean and nice, the staff was helpful and nice, the beds make a lot of noise when people move, also would be great to have a small light for reading or checking in, because when we got in the room people were sleeping and we didn’t see enough to make our beds. The breakfast is really poor, no juice, no options for vegetarians/ vegan, but bread, eggs, butter, peanut butter, banana, apples, te and coffee. To expensive for offering that, also it was Friday and nothing going on, no hostel spirit

Clean and cozy hostel in the heart of Sacramento. Staff is very helpful. Cheap and easy to do laundry. Good and filling breakfast. Make sure you ask about the history of the mansion and check out the old photos.

Another decent Hi hostel, old style building but done up great on the inside. Kitchen and comunal areas good. Wern't many young people staying here most the people staying were alot older and working like the two in my dorm, so not much of a social environment with people to talk to. Overall good stay for 3 nights.

This is a really beautiful hostel inside an old house. I can't comment on the dorms as I was staying in a private room (using the shared bathroom) - my room was very clean however. There were no problems with the bathroom either, though be warned that the toilets and showers are in the same room (so not much privacy!). My final bill for the room was a bit more expensive then I was expecting - I assume this was because of the Hostelling International membership fee, which I was happy to pay, but it would have been good if this was clarified at reception. Otherwise I would definitely recommend this hostel for anyone needing to stay in Sacramento.

The building is absolutely magnificent, the house is super spacey and located in a calm area. You won't be able to believe your eyes when you see that Victorian mansion. The majority of staff is friendly and helpful. The location is perfect to see the main sights and the city centre, but a little less perfect if you want to go grocery shopping.

Location: right near to downtown. Great staff. Soon you enter into hostel you will notice the architecture. Nice wooden work looks like old royal style. Hostel is very clean and particular about hygiene. Restrooms were clean. Kitchen was neat and clean equipped with all necessary utensils. You really like to stay in this hostel as a traveler because you will find all facilities and comfort at this place.
