We arrived in Santa Barbara on the evening of Cinco de Mayo and the town was crazy flooded with people partying in the streets already. We came to the Days Inn at the suggestion of another hotel. The check-in guy was very friendly-despite it being very busy and a line-up essentially to get a room. Because of the occasion, he... More

i visit santa barbara 3-4 times a year and have stayed at several hotels there, all nice, but the days inn @ 1601 state street offers the best location in town, across from the terrific caldwell market, 2 blocks from the arlington theatre, walkable to the many restaurants on state street, also just a short ride to stern's wharf. the... You can't really expect too much for a room under $100. It was tolerable. Remodeled bathroom was clean and nice. Beds weren't great but the room was clean. The "continental breakfast" was only a Danish and coffee. Front desk people were super helpful and the location was very walk able to the State St. sights/ shopping.

The location is great, but I had specifically looked for a property that served breakfast..and this location said that they did. However, come morning, the only thing they served was coffee, tea, cocoa and wrapped stale danish. Upon inquiry, I was told that they recently became a Days Inn and they did not have a licence for food.

When we travel from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara to visit our daughter in college, we simply want a clean, affordable hotel for one or two nights. We've had good experiences with Days Inn in other cities, and wanted to give this one a try. The positives: as we typically experience at Days Inn, the staff was kind and courteous.... More

This is the first time I have felt compelled to write a review although I have travelled extensively. This is mainly because of the title above and especially the fantastic service offered by the General Manager - Sylvia Lizarde. Having driven a long way in extreme fog in a small car with my family I was far from in the... More

It's like stepping back in time to a 1970's motor lodge. Check-in was friendly, but very inefficient. I sat and waited an hour (it was after 2pm), and had to remind the clerk twice to call housekeeping to confirm when the room was ready. Small, musty rooms with mis-matched furniture and worn carpet, broken electrical outlets, chipped tub, etc. The... More

We didn't experience any of the issues mentioned on here. Yes it was typical motel style, basic, but we found the staff ok, plenty of parking and a great location on State Street. We overlooked the pool area, which was reasonably landscaped and not at all busy. Breakfast was indeed, pretty horrible.

This hotel has a great location on State Street, though it was the worst customer service i have ever experienced at any hotel. The front desk staff is horrible, absolutely horrible and just plain rude. The do not know the meaning of customer service. Very sad. Additionally, the air conditioners in the rooms don not work, the rooms smells, and... More

I'm not a very fussy traveller but found this place disgusting. We arrived late after a long drive down the coast and only because it was so late I would have walked out of the place. In fact I think we would have had a better nights sleep in the car. The room was really smelly-like damp-I think it was... More
