While our school group has used El Capitan Canyon Resort in the past, adding the Ocean Mesa campground as an alternative option for group members this year was a real plus. Our group stayed in both facilties allowing our families options that met a variety of budgets and camping experiences. The campground at Ocean Mesa was clean, well maintained and... More

I recently celebrated my 40th birthday here with about 35 other family members from age 6 to 70! Everyone had an amazing time! I worked with Kristin who booked us a mixture of cabins and tents all in a row right in the middle campground area which was just perfect for our family. There was a huge plot of green... More

Just returned from three nights at El Capitan Canyon with my two sons, ages 6 and 4, and a friend and her two sons, ages 9 and 7. We stayed in a cabin bunk. The bunk beds were fun for the kids, and were actually pretty comfortable for us adults. The loft space was also a big hit for the... More

This is our fifth or sixth year at ECC for our youth group winter retreat. We love the staff, we love the facilities, and it just gets better and better each year. The catering is great for our teens, the bunk cabins work well for our numbers- about 50 total. We also use their meeting rooms and it's great. Can... More

I have to start off by saying I love nature, I love camping in a tent and I love this place! Some call it "Glamping" because it's so nice. These cabins are beautiful. The surroundings are full of hills, trees, a creek, the ocean nearby all with the bonus of being managed so carefully. All the people who work here... More

My wife and I are true city slickers, having been born and raised in Philly and Brooklyn, respectively. We have lived in California for over 10 years and have never once camped in our entire life. "Roughing it" is not something I believe we would be good at. But when we discovered El Capitan it is like a whole new... More

I have twice had the pleasure of staying in one of the cabins at El Capitan Canyon. My days of "roughing it" are over but I still enjoy the beauty and serenity of the outdoors. Each cabin is well-equipped with modern amenities and yet feels like my old camping days. As an added bonus, the on property cafe/store is wonderful.... More

El Capitan is in one of the most beautiful spots in California. We would highly recommend it. We went with our family and there was so much to do and see. The kids had a wonderful time, and we did too. You can rough it and cook your meals, or get a breakfast burrito at the market, or do both.... More

My husband and I went "glamping" here for Veterans Weekend, and we both loved it!! We started out in a safari tent, which was more than accommodating, but then it started to rain, and the tent/canvas seemed like it was shrinking, so we had trouble zipping up the tent. We called the front lodge, and right away they moved us... More

We spent three nights at El Capitan over Christmas. It's north of Santa Barbara; not so far at all that you can't buzz there if you need civilization. The check-in was pleasant and someone actually had us follow-him up to our cabin and he helped us get situated as it was dark and rainy when we arrived. The cabin had... More
