If you aren't American, you'll need a student ID to get a bunk in the dorms, otherwise you have to pay the $85 for a single room. The dorms, however, are a bit tight--not much air circulation, shallow mattresses and pithy blankets. Also, they lock the front of the building--kitchen, dining area, communal space--so that after 11 there's only a... More

Last week was my third visit to fun hostel. I think many people reviewing this hostel do not understand what hostels are about. Afternoon lockouts for cleaning, key deposits, dorm beds, and proximity to public transit are typical of this type of lodging! I love this place. It's super close to Amtrak, the beach, and downtown. I like the laid... More

Well the position isnt bad. Although it is right next to the AMTRAK station which is super noisy all night long, not the hostels fault at all, but that was the smallest of issues with the place. Firstly when we turned up we were happy with the parking available. We walk inside to find the place is closed until something... More

The hostel smells and is dirty, it's almost on the train tracks so you hear the trains coming through at 5am! The staff are unpleasant, unhelpful and I often found male members of staff wondering in and out of the female dorm during the day. It's not secure and the lockers charge you $0.25 each time you use them. I... More

We arrived to find a member of staff cuddled up with a woman on the sofas under a blanket. He had us wait around until an equally dozy member of staff came to the reception. He showed us to our room, stressed on the point of no noise after 10pm and no drinking in the hostel. The bathrooms were disgusting,... More

The accomodations were awful: an overcrowded room with no space to walk in between the many bunk-beds; the towels and sheets and were tattered and unclean; the bathrooms were overtaxed and not well maintained. There are no doors to the toilet stalls -- just doors (could not figure that one out.) We stayed at five California hostels over five days,... More

Very loud past 10pm. Very noisy fraternity-type atmosphere. The staff were not friendly. Not only did they make us feel unwelcome, they treated us like we were intruding and bothering them. We had such great experiences staying at Hosteling International Hostels in SF and Monterey. We decided to take a chance with a non-HI hostel. Bad idea! Don't stay here.... More

The staff is mean and terrible. They close the common room between 12:30 and 14:30.

This is by far the worst hostel there is. The place is understaffed, the manager has no clue, there is no wheelchair accessible toilet for men, there's rats which aren't dealt with by management, when it rains the rooms leak water and ants, apparently there's no doors on the women's toilets - just a curtain like for the bath! There's... More

We paid 40$ each person to stay in a dorm of 12 beds. The Toilets don't even have a door just a curtain, the kitchen is closed everytime at lunch time (the staff close the door and you can see them doing nothing while people are outside sit on the floor and just waiting) horrible service......don't go here please!| for...
