Location excellent, 5mins to beach and 10 to town. Hotel redone recently, although the colour scheme of brown and blue is a little unsettling. Breakfast is average for a motel type establishment, but the bright and open room in which it's offered compensates. The room we had (201) had its own balcony, overlooking the small pool. The beds were comfortable,... More

Clean room and bathroon, obviously recently renovated, but quite a noisy location between two busy streets. The less than friendly receptionist only reluctantly moved us upon our request for a quieter room to the second floor, even though plenty of rooms were still available. Ratty polyester bedcover under the duvet. Alright for a one-night-stop but no more.

Not what we imagined from the pictures and reviews we read. Wasn't expecting anything spectacular but wasn't that great. Beds were not comfortable at all, which is my biggest thing. Location was awesome. It was just eh. Not bad for a 1 night stay. Breakfast was included though, which is a plus, and you don't have to pay for parking.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for NYE and had a great time. We were within walking distance of a great restaurant called the Brewhouse and the harbor. If you go there you must try their enchiladas! The breakfast in the morning was ok, with the waffles being the highlight of the meal. Samantha at the front desk was a... More

We stopped off here for a night as part of a road trip going down the coast. It is in a line of hotels of similar quality. Given how far it was from the beach front and downtown I thought it was a bit pricey but it was on a par with any of the other hotels we priced and... More

This motel in Santa Barbara was remodeled recently, and apparently went for a modern look, with a somewhat garish teal and brown color theme going for it everywhere. But don't look too hard because its still a motel at heart and the quality of all the furnishings is Comfort Inn level at best. Still, most accommodations in Santa Barbara are... More

I booked the Avania because of the price and the location. Our room had everything we needed, fridge and microwave, and was comfortable. We didn't use the pool but it looked inviting. We walked to the marina, wharf and State St. easily. We had a late night flight out of LAX and asked if we could leave our car in... More

We stayed in a "refurbished" room, and it looked like we should have smelled fresh paint. Samantha at the front desk mentioned that the hotel was refurbished about one-year ago; Wow! You can tell the owners put a lot of care into the maintenance! Avania Inn is located within walking distance to "everything". State street is 4-5 blocks away, as... More

We picked this hotel because it had a very good price, and it looked like a nice, freshly renewed place with an interesting style. It was true, was exactly like it seemed from the pictures. The owners had put a lot of effort to it, to make something out of a former typical american hotel. The atmosphere is great, everything... More

Yes, although the hotel didn't provide Privacy signs, their housekeeping staff does respect your wish to be undisturbed if you tape your own sign on the door. We were not barged in on early, in fact, not at all, right up until checkout, which is 12 noon. They have a working hot tub and a sort-of heated outdoor pool open... More
