This is an older hotel that has been nicely remodeled. The pool is excellent. Rooms are nicely remodeled but are very small. A fairly nice value. We booked this location due to the trip advisors reviews. They were very accurate. We wanted to walk at night to the downtown for dinner and drinks. The front desk girl advised us not... More

Pros: Our room was clean and nicely furnished, with high-end modern finishings. The staff was helpful and friendly. The pool area is nice and clean (if a little stark). While I didn't eat at the restaurant, the menu looked appetizing, and they had plenty of waiters on staff. Cons: My biggest complaint would be the size of the room. Because... More

We just stayed at the Hotel Paradox this weekend and were very pleased. It is about a mile from the boardwalk on Ocean Street, walkable to other restaurants. The hotel was just completely rebuilt in Sept 2012, and is clean and very modern with a green, sustainable, Euro flair. Definitely much nicer than the other little motels on the way... More

Paid a ridiculous amount to stay here due to Memorial Day weekend pricing but it was a great stay in every way. Wonderful restaurant, clean rooms, attentive staff. Great poolside area with outdoor bar and covered seating. We will stay here again.

My dear friend Vickie heard that we planned to go to Santa Cruz for a couple of days during our vacation and she recommended we stay at the Hotel Paradox. We loved it! Very elegant, yet simple, clean lines with a European flair. Our king room overlooked the pool. It had a nice HD tv, very comfortable bed, and felt... More

While this property clearly shows the bones of the motel-style building that it is, the rooms are a delight, with lots of modern touches. I appreciated the bathroom lighting, which is very flattering. Front desk staff was personable and helpful. They really ought to consider putting an ironing board and iron in each room rather necessitating a call to the... More

I recently stayed here with a group of three other people. We were searching all over Santa Cruz for a hotel that was reasonably priced, yet didn't seem to sketchy. I stayed here for two nights while attending a conference off site. They have done a very good job transforming an old Holiday Inn into an upscale boutique hotel. I loved the lobby area with the felled tree registration desk as well as the wood features throughout the hotel and rooms. The rooms have all been updated with fresh paint,... More
