Pros: Historic haunted building. Cheaper than other hotels during parts of the year. Right downtown. Flat-screen tv among the old depressing furniture. Cons: Parking is limited. Don't get towed. There is a loud train that sounds its horn and rumbles through ever two hours at night. It's super loaded, making it very hard to sleep! The heater barely worked. There... More

First of all, we tend to seek out places like this and the Truckee Hotel was a hit with us. It was $80 a night so not to be confused (or compared) with a $250 per night ‘Inn’ or condo. A tent and a sleeping bag would have been worth the price at this great walk-a-round location. Our rating is... More

Right smack dab in the middle of Truckee. Can walk to the bars because they are right down the street. And to top it all off there's a continental breakfast for your hang over the next day!

First off the only reason that this hotel is worthy of one star is because of the of the extraordinarily nice, helpful and competent women behind the front desk. The manager is an older guy who seems more interested in puffing on his cigarets than anything else, and it really appeared as if he didn't want to be there at... More

We stayed at the Truckee Hotel for one night on while heading south. Check-in was quick, although the receptionist wasn't particularly welcoming...she seemed bored too be honest. As other reviewers have stated, this is a historical hotel and that brings with it a series of different challenges. The accommodation is on the shabbier end of chic, and in places it... More

this place is still a reasonable price. If you do not have a tv in your room and have a share bath down the hall, you can get a decent price. Good for one person alone. Breakfast is "OK" not great but it's ok if you are going off skiing for the day. The TV room is actually quite nice... More

Stayed for a few nights expecting a typical historic hotel scenario--of which, I've experienced plenty so my expectations were pretty realistic...I didn't realize the train would be so close...that along with the street noise and the housekeepers vacuuming in the hallway in the morning made it all pretty loud--but it's an old place so some of that I expect. The... More

We stayed here while skiing in Squaw. The hotel certainly had character, but given the price, didn't live up to expectations. The shower was tricky to operate and the bathroom generally dated. There was no hairdryer in the bedroom, which I would have expected as standard even at cheaper hotels. The fact that there was no parking was also not... More

We checked in late at around 10 PM. The front desk person didn't explain anything to us besides making us sign a sheet of paper and handing us a key to the room. She didn't seem to care at all. We parked our car right in front of the hotel, as that was the only available parking space where any... More
