We travel quite extensively and always prefer to stay out of hotels if at all possible. B and B's have always been quite the treat, usually worth the increased rate...not this time. We booked directly with the B and B, paid $180 a night. It's in a great location, walking distance to downtown. We arrived and the Innkeeper previously mentioned... More

I bought a voucher for the Ben Maddox house from "living social escapes" for a two-night stay. My boyfriend and I accidentally drove right past the house at first because it blended in with every other ghetto house on the block. The outside of the house: The grass looks like it has never been cut or watered. The front gate... More

The home was quaint, however the floors were so squeaky! got up to use the restroom and was worried I woke up the whole house. Could not figure out how to use the TV in the room. After no success there, then tried to get on my laptop to do some surfing and no success logging in! needed a password...hello... More

I was very much looking forward to a stay at Ben Maddox because of the historical value of a home built in 1876. It was also my very first B&B experience and I was thrilled to finally try it. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the Innkeeper Lucy and brought a bottle of wine (I was thrilled). She said she... More

My husband and I stayed here for an overnight stop on the way to Yosemite. We had picked the Ben Maddox House based on positive reviews and attractive photos, so the reality was disappointing. I can only assume that other visitors were charmed by Lucy and so turned a blind eye to the actual state of the B&B. First of... More

On our honeymoon and from the UK, this was a real lucky choice. The house was full of history, antiques and oodles of charm. Lucy the host was also full of charm, Irish charm that is, her warmth pervaded the whole house and she treated us to Champagne , strawberries in chocolate, lovely wines and the most incredible breakfasts. Definitely... More

We were given a two-night stay at the Ben Maddox House as a Anniversary gift (won out over a Mendicino package). The trip included: Two nights in the patio room (which was unavailable due to air-conditioning issues), A bottle of wine, A dining Certificate (was $50!!) for Cafe 255, a picnic lunch to take to the park, and two mini... Purchased a B&B package through living social. Were very excited to stay here based on lovely pictures and amenities listed. Once we arrived we were instructed that we would not be staying in the house, but in a cottage on the grounds. The Inn keeper/owner did not have a key for us...we waited for quite some time..hours. Thought we would... More

Hubby and I needed a change of scenery and Groupon had a two-night deal for the Ben Maddox B&B, only about 2 hours from our home. We've stayed in several B&B's in Texas, New York and California and have had good experiences. We reserved the Ben Maddox Room, the only one with a king-size bed and arrived in the late... More
