I was hesitant because there wasn't much info about the Rio Grande Southern on-line but my son lives in Mancos and he said the locals highly recommend it. It was the perfect place for me to stay and the prices were reasonable. The restaurant was wonderful. They are becoming known for their Friday night fish frys.Breakfast was awesome as well.... More

We had reservations but after seeing their less than clean and tidy restroom and viewing the lobby/living area with two large dogs and an abundance of dog hair everywhere we opted to cancel our reservations (without hassle which we appreciated) and go on to Rico. We had been looking forward to our stay and were shocked at the condition in... More

Rio Grande Southern Hotel Bed & Breakfast is the second oldest building in Dolores, Colorado. The accomodating couple running the B&B are terrific - - clean rooms, awesome food (restaurant downstairs), totally historic - - everything you could ask for in a B&B! We'll be back any time we're in Colorado. Don't stay at a national chain hotel in Cortez... More

We had reservations at the Rio Grande for 3 rooms (6 adults) and when making the reservation I verified that we had 3 queen rooms, 2 with private baths and 1 with bath across the hall. When we arrived, we walked into the "lobby" with 3 gentlemen were watching the football game. One gentleman was on an old leather sofa... More

We recently stayed at the Rio Grande Southern Hotel B&B during our vacation out west. Its proximity to Mesa Verde National Park first attracted us, and once we were in Dolores, what a delightful little town it is! The B&B is the oldest building in Dolores, and the lobby has several framed photographs of the place through the years. It... More

This was our first trip to the Four Corners area, and we are so glad we stayed here! It's apparent that Sheila loves the area, and she gave us excellent tips on local attractions like Mesa Verde, Telluride and the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. The aspens were turning while we were there, which was quite a treat. Dolores... More

The Rio Grande B&B offers what most hotels, B&B's, etc. lack, and that's the homey feeling of warmth and comfort. Most places I've stayed throughout the country nowadays seem commercial, and almost alien to me, and it was comforting to know the Rio provided me with something better. Family food, family service, and a family stay. All food was homemade... More

My sister and I stayed for several days at the Rio Grande. It is such a lovely, charming place -- which fit in with the town. I like the fact that it's off the main highway, yet walking distance to the river, market, and a nice brewery. Mesa Verde was just a few minutes away, and Telluride was only about... More

Perhaps we were remembering a trip many years ago when previous owners had just acquired and renovated the property and it was utterly charming and in wonderful condition. We were so sad to see the property so deteriorated in comparison.
