While the setting is beautiful. I nearly lost my life on one of their 4 hours trail rides. They put me on a horse that plow reigns even though I told them I had never riden a horse that didn't neck reign. They did not match rider/horse skills and did not offer helmets. Our guide lost her way and we... More

Five adults and 4 kids (from 3 to 13); stayed in the King House. It was really fun both to experience the activities for myself and to watch the children and grandchildren enjoy themselves. The focus was of course on horses, and they were NOT of the usual, half-dead, variety that you have assigned to you those 1 to 2-hour... More

This is our second year, second trip to KMR, a 4 day with friends who also joined us for the second time. This place is great. Paul and the staff really make the trip, they are very friendly and accommodating with whatever you want to do. The rides through the National Forest are fantastic. Yes, the place is old, but... I am 47 yrs of age and this is one of the top 5 trips of my lifetime. My brother and I took my son Greg on a 4-day weekend trip to King Mountain Ranch as a surprise to my son. None of us had done much horseback riding, skeet shooting, hiking, etc. No matter. The incredibly knowledgeable staff went... More

Stayed for 5 days with our children ranging in age from 19 to 10. It is hard to find a vacation that interests all three of them, but we all want to go back next year. The wranglers were great with all levels of riders, including our youngest who had never been on a horse. There is fishing, boating and... More

We had 33 children and grandchildren with us, and had a marvelous time. Normally ones anticipation exceeds the experience, in this case the experience exceeded the anticipation. The staff and service were wonderful, We would without reservation recommend the Ranch to anyone. I also would add that the area is simply beautiful. J.and M . Dunn Brookfield ,Wi.

Here is my (very detailed) review. And I have posted photographs to go along with the review. Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions! We (a family of two adults and one ten-year-old boy) stayed at King Mountain Ranch for an entire week in mid-August, 2009. We arrived on a Sunday. Just after we pulled... More

As a city boy, I had no real desire to take my well earned vacation at a dude ranch. But, my wife & daughters (age 8 & 11) had other plans. My family was excited for the trip, and I expected to simply "go along for the ride". Boy, was I surprised! We ALL had a fantastic time - riding,... More

I had planned to take my son out to Colorado to hike one of the 14teeners and decided to make it a family trip. So I searched Google for a dude ranch close to Denver and some were very pricey but King Mountain looked reasonable and the website looked like a great place to visit. So I booked the trip.... More

King Mountain Ranch is a great Rocky Mountain vacation destination for anyone. The ranch is completely surrounded by the Arapaho National Forest, and there are activities galore, even if you aren't into horses: skeet shooting, archery, canoeing, bowling, and just sitting around! If you ARE into horses, you will find the wranglers very experienced, very friendly, and very helpful. You... More
