As a former employee of the Ricky Top Hotel/Campground who worked for Cindy & Van who were the new owners of the hotel ,I can say that they were great bosses, who were very strict on their cleaning methods and being by the books! They are some of the nicest people to work for and to stay at their campground as we were there living in our RV for a while. They made sure that as employees that we did everything and made sure to sanitize everything from mattresses , to bathrooms to kitchenettes, to curtains anything and everything that could be touched , or hold anything like germs she made sure to we sanitized. The rings were very home feeling, welcoming, warm and cozy ! The hotel war v surrounded in an open parking lot and RV campground area , plenty of parking for people and friends, but also by the beautiful trees in the Woody little town for a nice country setting, enjoying the fresh air , like no other place! You can't go wrong if you stay at the RockyTop Hotel/Campground in Green Mountain Falls , it's right off the highway known as the Utte Pass There are plenty of grocery stores, ma &pa shops gas stations, restaurants, around and much to see . If you go further up to cripple Creek you have casinos and so much beauty to see and wildlife along the way , if you hear down a little bit you have the cliff dwellings , cave of the winds, and a little further garden of the Gods where the rocks known as the famous kissing camels are ! There is also old Colorado where there are plenty b of amazing shops, bistros, dining, and arcade with great games like the old arcades always use to be, inside and outside lots of fun for kids and adults! So staying at the Ricky Top Hotel/ Campground is the perfect place because the Cindy and Van are some of the nicest friendliest, happy smiley people you could ever meet& the hotel is in the perfect spot right in the middle of everything either way you go ! I enjoyed working for them when I did! I now reside in California, but if I had to choose someone to work for again or a place to stay when visiting or of I moved back that is why the place I would go because I lived it so much! Thank you Cindy & Van for letting me be one of your employees when I lived in Colorado and lived at the campground in my R.V. with my husband Joseph. You were good to me and I appreciate you very much ! Also Colleen was also a great employee who helped train me then. Sincerely, former employee, Susan M Grado May you have a beautiful holiday season this year and every day be blessed through and through each coming year!

Since I went to Colorado Springs and did not plan very well it was hard to find RV spots. They were kind enough to let me dry park 1 night until I could get to my scheduled campground the following day. From what I observed I would not hesitate to stay in the regular campground.

My family and I stayed here for our first time this last weekend, and I am SO in love with this place that I had to write a review! :) We stayed in the motel - specifically room #5, which had one Queen, a sofa sleeper, and a kitchenette. The room itself was wonderful, and more something I would compare to an AirBnB rental than the run of the mill 'motel room'. It is clear that the Owner really takes time to make these rooms feel like HOME. The decor was just lovely, the room was dated but beautiful, and super cozy. The views are AMAZING, and the amenities are definitely a plus. And the Owner (Gem, I believe?) is so, SO nice! And, on a side note, the campground looked awesome as well! We can't wait to stay there again! In fact, we had planned a long weekend getaway to Glenwood Springs over the upcoming Labor Day holiday, but, after experiencing this wonderful place, we've changed those plans, and will be making reservations here instead! Thank you to the entire staff there for a wonderful stay! :)

The site was wider than I expected in a mountain park. It had full hook up and good water mountain water, owner just put installed new system. The area has many natural attractions, jeff in the office, new the best places to send us. Will visit again.

The campground has incredible views. It has a new owner who is doing some major work and upgrades but line voltage was low and it kept us from running our A/C. Maintenance and front desk were incredible to help but they couldn’t solve the issue. Luckily it stayed cool and we didn’t need but a fan on a couple of days. It’s a great location for exploring all that Ute Canyon has to offer. Washers/Dryers look to be new.

We were disappointed in our stAy at rocky top. They advertised Ping pong, pool table, and pickle ball court with e rec room. They didn’t no have any of the equipment listed. The rec room consisted of a tv and a couple of book shelves with some books. The campground had many permanent residents and is not a typical campground experience. It felt more like a mobile home park than campground. The bathrooms were kept clean but need major renovations. At check in the staff was friendly and helpfully about local events and direction.

I am giving the motel a top rating thanks to the kind and accommodating staff and owner. The room itself is dated but clean, and offered everything we needed to be comfortable. We were surprised by the fluffy towels and soft bed linens, a contrast to the stained carpet and 1960s interior. However, the room was spacious, had a good shower, and the small frig/micro we needed. There is no A/C, just a portable fan, which was sufficient even on hot July nights & helped block highway noise (ongoing at night). When we found out we had inadvertently reserved for only 2 nights but needed 3, the owner graciously made special arrangements to take care of us. Both Karan and Jeff at the office were helpful and friendly. The office sells ice, cold drinks and a limited selection of snack foods. Located only 5 miles from Woodland Park's many cafes and anything you might need. There is a coin laundry; no pool or hot tub.

We used a tent campsite so this review will not include the motel or RV camping since we did not experience that part of the facilities. Tent sites are currently being improved, as are many other areas in lieu of the new owner. Ours was mostly grassy and comfortable since we requested T6 after reading other reviews, but these are the "Rocky" Mountains, so bring a hammer to make it easier to get your stakes in the hard ground. You will need a claw hammer to pull them out if you pound them in flush with the ground. Sites are very small...you may feel like you are right on top of your neighbor, but this was our experience in another mountain campground as well, so it may be common for Rocky Mountain tent camping. There is only one site with a tree for shade, so if that is important to you, be sure to request it when you make your reservation. I think it was T4, but not sure. The weather in July was warm but tolerable during the day and cool at night so not having shade wasn't an issue for us. We were gone hiking most days anyway. Parking is also very tight around the tent sites. We had two vehicles so that was a bit of a challenge. The nearby restroom/dishwashing building was very convenient and always clean. It was great to have a nice place with hot water to wash dishes. The other shower/restroom facility up the hill was also clean every time we used it, and we never had to wait. I liked how they had a code required to enter that shower house...it gave us a sense of safety and privacy. There was always hot water and though the facilities are old, they were consistently clean and well stocked. We enjoyed the "Chuck House" one night for dinner. It appears that some local ladies do the cooking...the menu included things reasonably priced like hamburgers, cheeseburgers, fish and chips, hot dogs, chili dogs, etc. It was very convenient when we didn't want to cook or drive into town. The reviews we read about the "rude" RV campers did not represent our experience. The tent sites are now separate from the RVs so I don't see how this can be a big issue. We did meet a full time camper and he was so nice to visit with...very friendly and loved living there. Everyone we met and had as camping "neighbors" were all very friendly and considerate so the tight quarters didn't end up being a problem. We loved this location! It was just far enough into the mountains to make the weather wonderfully cool, but close enough to Manitou Springs and Colorado Springs that we had a short drive to many of the activities we wanted to enjoy. It's conveniently located off Hwy 24, which means you do hear some highway noise, but again, it wasn't that bad. For shopping, we loved how there was a Wal-Mart just off the highway a few miles west of the campground in Woodland Park, so if you forget anything or need fresh groceries, you aren't far from everything you might need. We also really loved the staff. They couldn't have been better at sharing local advice for hiking trails and had an answer for about anything we asked. We really were treated as "guests" instead of an inconvenience. They clearly enjoy living there and sharing their experiences with guests. This location is also close to a LOT of great hiking if you are into that. In short, this place is older and in the process of change and improvement, but overall a great place to stay and we will stay there again.
