We stayed here for a couple of nights during the summer. The views are great and it is very close to the lake. The sites were tight. We found the staff friendly and helpful. The ice cream social in the evenings were fun. We did not use the restrooms so I have no comment for them.

If you're looking for a campground that has more than one or two spots for those who camp in a small trailer, tent camper or tent, this is the place to go. The tenting area was large and spacious and we were put in a nice area with our tent camper. The sites are fairly close together, but we had... More

First reaction was shock that this campground was not at all like the picture they used in the brochure, they need to update the picture. The campground was primitive at best and the spaces were too close. You might as well have stayed out in the dirt somewhere. The staff was rude and unprofessional. The restrooms and showers were dirty... More

after staying at this campsite at a choir retreat we awoke to an extremely hostile owner coming into our campsite to give us a piece of his mind about complaints made by those surrounding us and by his staff. First of the two was a noise complaint made by those around us. We had left the campsite when quiet hours... More

For starters, I was disappointed at how close the spaces are to each other. I could spit in either direction of our space and hit our neighbors. The area is beautiful and some of the spots have nice trees. I wasn't chastised like I expected to be after reading the other reviews about the noise after ten. That being said,... More

Very affordable, great connections, and wonderful staff. The restrooms and showers are very clean and the sites are well maintained. You get plenty of wild-life including prairie dogs and humming birds every day. Ice cream social every night made kids (young and old) very happy. Close enough to town to be able to do everything on your list but yet... More

Quiet hours are insane here! We were camping with a group and being very polite to whisper as soon as it got dark. Polite enough to go around to all our fellow campers and ask them to let us know if our whispers became too much. Unfortunately, the workers at the campsite informed us at 10:03 our laughing was "unbearably"... More

Well-run campground with a name from an earlier era that reflects it's long, family-run history. Everything was clean, including the large and immaculate bathroom and shower facilities. Their strict noise curfew makes living in tight quarters possible - and make no mistake, they can really pack in the trailers here. We could touch the RV to one side of us... More

Wife and I camped at Sugar Loafin' this past weekend (July 22-24) and it was her first time here and my second. My first time was way back in August 1996. If you're into recreational activities in and around the Leadville area, camping is pretty much your only option. The City of Leadville is rather limited on quality hotel/motels, plus... More

We first stayed at Sugar Loafin’ Campground the summer of 1974 and fell in love with its natural high country setting, close to hiking, fishing ( river & lake), ATV & bike rentals and beautiful views of Mt. Elbert and Mt. Massive both of which are over fourteen thousand feet. Family owned and operated since the 1960’s they are really... More
