this is the second time we've been to Trean House and it is a really gorgeous place, a great location and the hosting is second to none. made extra-special by regular appearances by spike and finn! we would recommend it to anyone for service, comfort, cleanliness and its proximity to some of the most beautiful beaches ever!

Three friends and I stayed at Trean House for two nights during October, 2012. I absolutely concur with all the comments in the recent reviews of this property. The facilities were five star.....beautiful rooms with sumptuous linens. It was very dark and quiet at night, making for a great sleep. Joyce is the ultimate host. Her full Irish breakfast was... During our annual mum and son trip to Ireland, my 11 year old son and I had a night's stay at Trean House. As first time visitors to Donegal, we wanted to stay on a farmhouse somewhere quite rural and Trean ticked all the boxes. I can concur with all the positive comments made by other reviewers. I must add... More

Joyce and Mervyn were wonderful hosts (along with Spike and Finn). It is a working farm and Mervyn supplied lots of interesting facts about farming in Ireland. The house was spotless and the room was large and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely - a very traditional meal cooked to perfection. Joyce was very helpful and pointing out places of interest. We... As first-time visitors to Ireland, my friend and I knew one thing: We wanted at least one stay at a farm. I let my fingers do the walking through the BandBIreland book that we got from the Irish Tourist Board and discovered Trean House. Despite its rather remote location, it was easy to find (thanks to Trean's perfect directions on... More

After returning many times we find Joyce and Mervyn the perfect hosts. The rooms are comfortable and the food is excellent, a nice lounge to sit in with a lovely turf fire to greet you. Two dogs Spike and Finn which are only to pleased to take you for a walk to the beach five minutes away, of which they... More

We have stayed in Trean House many times. It is one of the friendliest B&B's we have ever come across. We are always guaranteed a great welcome not just from from the hosts (Joyce, Meryn & Steven) but the many animals that live there. The dogs waste no time in presenting themselves at the driveway on arrival and are not... More

Best B and B of our 3 week trip. Location was superb, located on a working farm, overlooking the ocean and just a 5 minute walk to the beach. Hosts were great, received a personal tour of the farm, bottle fed the newly arrived lambs, saw baby calves and walked there dogs to the beach to play fetch. Breakfast were... More

I stayed at Trean House for two nights with a larger group over St. Patrick's Day. Having already been to the area on a previous trip I expected pristine scenery, gorgeous Irish beaches, and rolling hills lined by stone walls like a checker board. What I was fully prepared for was the warm and welcoming hospitality of Joyce and Mervyn,... More

Ireland is absolutely beautiful. Traveling with friends we were lucky they included the Trean House in our plans. There are places that have the right mix of scenery and serenity and the Trean House sets the standard. Seriously it was one of the prettiest spots we visited in our 10 day trip. Joyce and Mervyn are fantastic, the food is... More
