I had no problem with the 3rd floor walk up as this possibility was documented on the web site. I did have a problem hitting my head on low eaves especially considering there were only a few customers staying at the Inn and assigning a better room would had been no problem. I think I was assigned this room because... More

This is an Inn that was truly delightful. We had a huge room with a four- poster bed, complete with canopy. It's well furnished, with a pleasant, pretty sitting area on the first floor. They served a continental breakfast, which was more than adequate, with yogurt, cereal, bagels, muffins, juice, etc. This was on the lower level, and I would... More

We enjoyed ourselves a lot at this beautiful place. It´s a historical inn with beautiful rooms - so charming that you just want to drop your bags and sink into the soft pillows of those comfortable beds. I became sick that night and was so happy about a good night rest before jumping on our international flight the next day.... More

We were in the process of moving from Florida to Connecticut and the 1820 was the final stage of our trip. We stayed for two nights and really enjoyed it... It was such a nice change from the corporate cookie cutter hotels. We booked online and got a rate of $89. per night, equivalent to the Holiday Inn Express over... More

Stayed here for two nights in September 2011. What I liked: Lovely grounds and covered porch; great location that's walking distance to shops and restaurants; friendly, accommodating staff; spacious room; bathroom and linens were clean; good AC, water pressure, and hot water in shower; free Wifi; it's pet-friendly. I would not hesitate to stay there again if I return to... More

We used to live in Simsbury and this renovated Inn opened in 1985 to thunderous applause. Beautiful rooms and great restaurant. We moved away 7 years ago and returned for a party. We were so disappointed. The restaurant is closed but the inn appears to be exactly the same as 1985. No renovations. Lots of cracks in tiles, spots on... More

I stayed two nights at the Simsbury 1820 House for a family wedding. My room had an extremely comfortable four poster bed. The staff was very friendly and helpful, even whe I arrived back at the inn after the wedding reception and my card didn't work. The continental breakfast was excellent with a variety of pastries and fresh fruit. August... More

I stayed at the Simsbury 1820 House for two nights in June and was pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. The room was charming and clean, the staff was very helpful, and the price was very reasonable.

My husband and I were visiting and initially booked a hotel, but decided last minute to try the 1820 house for its charm and location. Simsbury is a darling little town with several good shops and restaurants nearby and an easy and scenic 15 to 20 min drive to nearby towns of West Hartford, Farmington, Avon, and Hartford. We could... More

First of all, I will start by saying in all my years of travelling I have never felt compelled to write a review to Trip Advisor. To begin with, to advertise their business as 'pet friendly' is not accurate. It is closer to being almost 'pet tolerant.' In addition to a fee for both of our dogs, we had to... More
