If your looking for spectacular food and presentation this is not the place. If you want a good cheeseburger and slaw with a view to die for, you found it. We cruised over on Captiva Cruise which was a blast with all the dolphins jumping and following us Landed on Cabbage Key and got a table outside which was wonderful.... More

Cabbage Key can be reached only by boat, yet it is hugely popular for its' cuisine and libations. Cabbage Key also features Old Florida-style rooms and large remote cottages. Pair these offerings with tours, boat rentals, and fishing guides and you've got an ideal destination. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves !

First of all shocked that a lunch crab claw plate (cold crab in shell at that) with a scoop of nothing special potato salad and coleslaw could fetch a $33 "market" price. Expensive lesson learned. Atmosphere and historical relevance is amazing, but styrofoam and plastic utensils at the prices they charge are a bit disappointing. The mahi and burgers received... More

Our friends & family visited Cabbage Key for dinner - great service, delicious food & incredible atmosphere. If the Triple Tail fish, grilled shrimp, house dressing & housemade rolls aren't enough of a reason to get you there, let me tell you about the amazing Cabbage Key family who became our heroes. We (5 adults & 3 children) went over... More

The setting of the Inn is great, and staying here is ideal for nature lovers. The strongest thing here was the excellent and friendly service - reading some of the other reviews they must definitely have taken criticisms on board, as the service was close to faultless. The manageress seemed very much "on the ball." We stayed in the inn,... More

We visited Cabbage Key for lunch as part of the Tropic Star cruise to Cayo Costa. Having read previous reviews, my expectations were not very high but figured it's only a lunch stop. Our boat captain provided recommendations for the beans and rice with blackened mahi which I ordered. It was the best tasting lunch I have had in a... More

Quite simply, the food was average at best. My drink had a piece of shrimp shell in it and it was pretty gross. We had a party of 4 with two children under a year old. The tip was automatically billed because our children (who were too young for solid food) counted as the 6 people needed for automatically billing... More

Recently went on King Fisher fleet from punta gorda to Cabbage Key. The trip was okay somewhat slow . When we arrived we had 1 1/2 hour to get in very crowded restaurant and eat. We were told to wait in the crowded bar until our name was called. (had to stand) When we were finally seated the menu is... More

Took out of state guests by boat for lunch. Food and service good but upon arrival were met by a very surly dock hand which left a bad impression with us and our guests. Won't go back and definitely won't recommend to other boaters.

Sorry that you did not have a good experience at our dock. Our Dockmaster is responsible for docking dozens of boats daily and sometimes he can be a little cranky! We hope that you can give us another try. More

Arrived on the tropic star cruise which was excellent. Oredered the signature cheeseburger which arrived on a paper plate - very dry with a slaw side. There was extreme pressure to eat as quicly as possible and vacate the table ready for the next crowd of people arriving on a double decker ferry. Cannot in any way say this was... More

I am sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with your visit to Cabbage Key. We never want our guests to feel rushed and not welcome. We are a very popular lunch destination and there can be a lot of people showing up here at once. For guests that are sitting outside on the patio, we serve the food... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Cabbage Key is a 100 acre island located five miles off of Pine Island, FL in the Pine Island Sound. The Inn, built in the 1940's by the family of Mary Roberts Rinehart, now houses our famous Restaurant & Dollar Bill Bar and six guest rooms. The rooms in the Inn are all different with old Florida charm - they do not have TVs, phones, or refrigerators. We have seven cottages on the island, ranging from a 1 bedroom/1 bath cottage to 3 bedroom/3 bath waterfront units. All cottages have refrigerators, televisions (no cable) and coffee makers, some units have full kitchens. Our restaurant is open seven days a week and serves breakfast, lunch & dinner. If you want to relax on a beach...we do not have one here. But, Cayo Costa is a close kayak or boat ride away. This is a great retreat to discover "Old Florida", relax with a book, fish from our docks & watch the boats go by. ... more   less
