Kings Bay Lodge is one of those places that people will either 1) really like or 2) think is an old dump. My wife and I are in the "really like" category and would definitely stay here again if in the area. The place is an old motor court motel that was likely built in the 60's or 70's. The... More

We had a fantastic time enjoying Kings Bay and visiting Crystal River and Three Sisters Spring. We saw lots of manatee and enjoyed the lodges natural pool. The room we stayed in was worn, but we ran into an owner of another room who assured us that this is not the case for the other rooms.

I will leave this review based on room #10, it was fantastic. As others write when you pull in your not quite sure what to expect since they haven't done much with the outside of this old Fl hotel. We wanted a king size bed and that is what #10 had as well as room to relax in and be... More

I consider myself a hotel snob. I'm a stickler with things being clean and smell fresh. For a place on the water, this was ok. It wasn't fancy. When you pull up, your initial reaction is that it's just an old motel. Each room is individually owned so they are decorated and kept up with differently. We had Unit 2.... More

The thing about King's Bay is that it is different in a way that some will love others won't. A previous review offered the opinion that a room at a chain motel for $20 more would be preferable. I would respond if that were to be your choice you would miss the following: Beautiful King's Bay on Crystal River practically... More

Our family of four stayed here one night, based on the Moon Handbook recommendation. After five Disney days, a touch of "old Florida" sounded like a nice change. Location and proximity to manatee viewing was great. I just wished the lodge had been updated and maintained a little better. There is a point where "rustic" crosses over to "run-down" and... More

Well, for us Brits we loved this motel. As people say, it is a little bit of the "Old Florida". Right on the river, and easy to walk to lots of restaurants or manatee trips. It reminded us of lots of US road movies where people stay in large motel rooms. Yes, the rooms are old and not spotlesslessly clean.... More

Last year I stayed at a "mom and pop" hotel in Bar Harbor. Based on my great experience there and good reviews online (and the fact that it was cheap), I booked this one. When I arrived around 5:30 there was a note on the office door "Out to dinner. Be back by 8:30." My thought was "Are you kidding?... More

We originally planned to stay 2 nights but took an extra night. As other reviewers have said rooms are old but the one we stayed in was huge. With a well equipped kitchen and serviceable bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the unit clean, even if it was a little worn around the edges! If you want the Ritz-Carlton or... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Our little corner of "Paradise" was built starting in 1954,in stages all the way to 1957, and down through the years, past Managers did not take the "Loving Care" of it, that Mitch & I are trying to. We came into this position knowing that we had our work cut out for us, however, the extent of disrepair was not so evident. With each remodel, or repair, we are NOT "Putting on a Bandaid", as past Managers have, we are actually trying to bring it back to its former "Glory"! This takes Time & Money, and as we usually stay Booked throughout the year, we have to coordinate so that the rooms are "Down" for the least amount of time possible, and with the least amount of "Disruption" to the guests in residence. Times are rather tough with our economy in such disarray, and I hope that our "Loyal" guests continue to come and our "Potential" guests understand that Rome wasn't built in a day, and we truly are trying to do our Best with the resources that we have, and that eventually we will have the "Entire" Lodge restored to its Former Glory! Please, give us a chance, try us out, we will do everything in our power to make your stay as Pleasant & Memorable as possible!!! ... more   less
