My family and I just camped in at GHB this past weekend and had a wonderful time! We stayed at site 15 on the Sandhill loop in a 30ft tt. In addition to typical central Florida April weather, we enjoyed the local squirrels, cardinals, dragon flies and lots of deer. The park was well kept, staff was polite, restrooms clean... More

Fantastic Trip! We traveled with 5 Adults and 5 children under 5 years old. We had the best time! Campsite 22 and 21. The sites were huge and it was wonderful for the kids to have the opportunity to run around in the woods. Great Trip for the family!!!

We camped for one night in Gold Head Branch State Park on the Lake Loop (site 59). Campground/Scenery: The campground was filled to capacity the night we were there and it was a little noisy at night but the noise quieted down around 9pm and everyone was very respectful of their neighbors. We brought our bikes and the road are... More

I recently rented a cabin in this state park only to come home covered with horrible bug bites. I called them and said that they looked like bed bug bites and was told they were chiigger bites. Well, if you search google images on either one, they look almost the same and they are very unpleasant. They itch like mad... More

Most of these reviews have already said it. The swimming and boating lakes are gone. I spent many days here as a child in the 70's and remember the place being packed. The beach was always full of people. I had many great memories here. I visited the park yesterday July7, 2012 and it was so sad to see the... More

Beautiful long-leaf forest full of bald-eagles, fox-squirrels, gopher-tortoises, deer, and many other creatures as well. The remaining lakes are amazing! It would be great if the lake with the swimming area would fill back up though. The park rangers were all super friendly. The cabins we stayed in were very nice and clean. I have visited this park several times... More

This park is one of the best examples of a natural sandhill you can find. The major lake is dried up, however, Sheelar Lake and Deer Pond still remain, as they are spring-fed. These lakes are gems, with water that is crystal-clear, but require a very small hike to access. There is no fishing or swimming in these lakes due... More

I never knew of or visited this park before the lakes dried up, but I absolutely love it here. The ravine is breath-taking; I've lived in Florida all my life and never knew anything like this existed here. It is spring-fed from the walls of the ravine. The water is very shallow and crystal clear, encompassed in lush greenery. On... More

My parents took me camping to this place when I was younger and now I go on a camping trip there with my family and friends at least once a year. The lakes dried up towards the end of 2010 and the water level in the remaining lake is too low and of poor quality to swim in, which is... More

Yes, the lakes have all dried up with the exception of Sheeler Lake. It's crystal clear and stocked with small fish. However, just like in what used to be the other water filled lakes, there is no swimming or canoeing allowed at the time of this writing. They are currently trying to refurbish the lake. Although the printed literature suggest... More
