- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
-
Originally the First Presbyterian Church built in 1846, The Stone House sits on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. The church was converted into a private residence after lightning struck and destroyed the bell tower in the early 1920's. The house has magnificent exposed hand-hewn ceiling beams, deep window seats and is beautifully furnished with accents of interesting decor collected from extensive travel in foreign lands. The scenic view in a quiet and quaint setting is a sure method of relaxation.
