We stayed at this iconic hotel in April. It has a fantastic location at the end of Michigan Avenue and wonderful classic function rooms. The staff are friendly and helpful. On the downside the bathrooms are way out of date and need modernising, as does the noisy AC system. The double glazing does not block out the noise (and being... More

I have stayed at the Drake on 4 occasions now and still like it. While the rooms are showing their age they have been updated with new TVs, efficient A/C and nice beds. The downer is the details such as carpeting, wood work and layout. The location is top notch and is great for exploring everything north of the loop.... More

Got a fabulous bargain at this hotel. only 100$/night ! What a good deal. Hotel is simply gorgeous. Usually , this is not my type of hotel (I'm more trendy boutique than classic), but I felt like a princess that week ! I will stay there again for sure. Room is oversized compare to other hotels. Location is perfect as... More

We booked this hotel on HotelTonight fairly cheap. The parking was outrageous, however they did offer a less expensive self-park option down 2 blocks. The valet member was very nice and friendly. He was always smiling and dealt with the traffic flow well with the construction going on in the front of the building. We checked in and the woman... More

Stayed at the Drake on business...had a beautiful corner room suite (status upgrade with Hilton) Very spacious. One block from American Girl store for those with little ones. Hotel front being remodeled, so construction around, but not an issue. Hotel lobby was quite busy and staff was very courteous and helpful. Valet parking is steep, so think train if you... More

2 night stay in chicago for business, my wife decided to join me on the trip. All the 4-star rooms were $250 to $500 per night, but I was able to score The Drake for $97 per night on a Priceline Special, saving us over $300 for 2 nts.... Hotel is actually charming, friendly, perfectly located, historically significant, and well... More

When you think of The Drake hotel you think classy, expensive, quality...not Centipedes. That's what we found in bathroom. Very gross!!! It overall was not what I expected. The room was old looking and not in a good way. It shows it years and is in desperate need of some TLC. My advice stay someplace else.

Elegant property in a great, convenient neighborhood. Walk to everywhere. Cabs all over the place. Lovely restaurants/bars. I hear you can get a much better rate from Priceline than what I got on Expedia. Nice bath amenities. Now for the negatives: Too frayed to be this expensive. Rips in sheets and bathroom wallpaper. Isn't the mini-fridge supposed to be on?... More

I've stayed here three to four times I think over the past 18 months and have always had a great experience. Let's be clear though, it is NOT the Four Seasons, the Ritz, the Peninsula or the Waldorf (Elysian), so expect that when you stay there, if you want the absolute best hotels in Chicago and can afford it, go... Oh golly...critiquing the Drake is a little like bashing your old gray-haired Auntie (who also happens to be the dowager empress) after she's had a rough year. The public rooms are what they are...busy, opulent and a little frayed at the edges. We stopped for a quick one-night stay recently and found the hotel a mixed bag. It was 'Mother's... More
