Great location and great staff.The room was 5 star,the Heavenly bed was hard to get out of on a cold December mornnings.
Westin is a great brand, and this hotel is in a terrific part of downtown Chicago. It is right smack in the middle of a haven for shopping. However, the hotel is old. The hallways, bathrooms, and rooms are a bit tired. The restaurant is overpriced, and the bar is always packed with people.

My husband and I spent 2 nights at the Westin on Michigan Ave May 18-20, 2012. We got a great deal using Hotwire ($140/night) and for THAT PRICE we were very pleased with the hotel. Good Location, right in the heart of downtown shopping district and not too far from waterfront. The building is dated and the rooms are small. It is not up the usual standards of what I expect from SPG. No club lounge which was very disappointing.
I got a room at the Westin using Travelocity's Top Secret deals. This made the room a good deal, although I'm having a bit of an unresolved dispute right now about an extra 3rd person fee that was charged that the hotel says they don't charge.

This hotel was close to everything. It was very clean and the staff were helpful. Rooms were nice and the bed was great.
We were shown three rooms before we found a suitable one. The first was right across from the elevator, the second almost in the dungeon with a view of a concrete block.
