I am amazed that hotels would still allow smoking in the rooms. The smell really does not stay in the rooms and carries in to the hallways and the nonsmoking rooms. If you are looking for a clean reasonable friendly place to stay, I recommend the Quality Inn in Pontiac Illinois. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. They also have a hot breakfast each morning. They offer AAA discounts, senior discounts and retired military discounts.

There are 3 hotels at this exit. Tried the Super 8, it was nasty smelling and when we checked the room saw evidence of bedbugs and checked out. We have stayed in this hotel once or twice a year since it opened. It started out great but has steadily deteriorated since. The entire building is permeated with cigarette smoke so having a non-smoking room makes little difference. The mattress and pillows are old with no support. The carpet - yuck.

We were on a long drive to Wisconsin and stopped here to break up the drive. We came in around 9:30 and left by 8:00 the next morning, after grabbing some breakfast. Room was spacious, comfortable and clean. I would stay here again.
