As soon as you enter the area you notice it is unsafe. As soon as I pulled up in the driveway I saw two police cars! As soon as you enter the lobby it smells like spoiled fried shrimp The hotel is not clean AT ALL. The pool was small and dirty and I felt unsafe in the pool room.... More

Unless a hotel has been built in the last couple of years, you are going to notice some wear and tear. You have to consider the sheer volume of people filing through the rooms. Cliffbreakers has recently changed their management and they are trying hard to upgrade the experience. They do offer a level of concern and interest in your... More

I know it is looking a bit worn around the edges but I so love this hotel. I love the massive furniture, the strange statues, the totally bizarre aquariums in the restaurant booths. I love the old martini bar and the martinis. I love the Rock River and the river walk. This hotel is from another time and a time... More

Dear Linda L, Thank you for the kind comments! It is always nice to read of positive guest experiences. The resort is under going quite a bit of upgrading, though we promise to keep the old world charm. If you have not ever taken a walking tour of the resort with a paper guide, please stop at the front desk... More

The view is great and the front desk was very helpful however the condition of the hotel is very bad. They are upgrading but I would close and do it all at once. The bed was very bad and the door barely would stay shut in my second room. I had to switch rooms because the room smelled and the... More

We have stayed here several times. The breakfast buffet is still outstanding, fresh hot food and well stocked. Other than that, this time was the most disappointing. Even though the majority of the staff is pleasant, hard-working, and strives for customer satisfaction, the facility is old and in desperate need of a complete makeover. On day one of our seven... This was my family's first time here as we were in town for my son's chess tournament. We got a good deal through Hotwire although I don't know if I would have been as pleased if I would have had to pay the regular room rates. The hotel is nice enough, and has its own unique character, but seems somewhat... More

This was my first time coming to this hotel. I liked that it is near the river and the room had a nice view of it. The room was nice we had also a fireplace in the room and two bathrooms. The bed was nice and we had great customer service. The full american breakfest was good and better then... More

This hotel is in serious need of an upgrade. I'm sure it was great back in the day, but it is definitely showing it's age. We got a certificate for a free night stay. They ended up charging us $50 for incidentals that we had to pay or they would not check us in. This money of course would be... More

The event was outstanding due to the cooperation and planning of the staff at Cliffbreakers. Everyone from Debbie Hutchinson in Sales and Special Event Planning to the catering staff and servers were professional, polite, and very attentive to our needs. Everything from the beautiful chandliers and fire pits, excellent meal, and sparkling fruit punch (for our high schoolers) all served... More
