Our first time to the remote setting and worth the drive. The food is better than any restaurant in the city. You are in a remote part of Maine with no cell or wireless and gas lights for light. It is wonderful!! Saw moose rabbit snake and a loon that wanted our catch of the day. The trails are very... More

I have stayed twice now at LLP Lodge (Little Lyford Pond), once as a cross-country ski trip in winter and once as a trail volunteer over Memorial Day weekend. Both trips were great experiences. If you want to hike Gulf Hagas, the Grand Canyon of Maine, LLP is the place to stay. Besides hiking, LLP is also great for fishing... More

This is the best spot ever! Wonderful wilderness adventure with all (most) of the amenities of home. Friendly staff always willing to help. The best part: the food!! Duncan was our chef while we were there and he never stopped amazing us! 5 star food in the middle of the woods. I'd go back just for the food!

This was my first organized AMC hiking trip and my most extensive winter back country outing. We dropped our overnight gear at the trailhead just east of Greenville for the shuttle service and skied about 7 miles into Little Lyford Camp via the beautiful Hedgehog Gate ski trail. Lyford Camp itself was very comfortable. It includes a separate building with... More

I was part of an all girl adventure to Little Lyford recently and simply loved it. The weather was poor but the staff made sure we were comfortable and content. They had to take extra care to get us out safely and we really appreciated all their efforts. Special shout out to Duncan, the chef, he blew our minds and... More

Like others, I hesitate to recommend this place because it is a real gem! It's remoteness, however, means that it's not for everyone. The people are outstanding, the setting is amazing, and the food is down-home good. I can't say enough good things about this place. Be aware, however, that this is not 5-star lodgings...for those who might be expecting... More

I hesitate to recommend AMC's Little Lyford place because part of me doesn't want anyone to know about it. The woods, ponds, and rivers provide the main draw, but the amazing folks at the lodge, with their knowledge, humor, care, and good cooking are the best people you will find anywhere. The cabins definitely retain their logging and hunting camp... More

Our family -- two adults and two kids, ages 9 and 12 -- had a fabulous three-day, two-night cross-country skiing trip to Little Lyford and Gorman Chairback. Each day, we skiied six to eight miles over well-groomed trails through beautiful, peaceful (except for the occasional distant snowmobile engine) country. Both lodges provide hot showers and excellent food. Gorman Chairback even... More

Spend a week or at least a weekend where you may see a moose, red fox at the camp. Kayaks, canoes are at each of the two ponds. See beaver dams and houses to investigate by food or by paddling. Many great walking/hiking trails right from your cabin. The meals can taste no better especially when so far from home.... More

My son, age 12, and I had a fantastic weekend at Little Lyford. We can't wait to go back. Little Lyford was the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation. We were sort of wilderness rookies. The cabins were quaint, clean and comfortable. The wood stove and the gas lamps were nice amenities. The food was fantastic. The bathhouse was extremely clean....
