I was in town for the death of my grandfather, needless to say my rather large family was not in the highest of spirits. We were disorganized and messy. The woman running the hotel was BEYOND accommodating. She was helpful, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to talk to and do business with. When we found the room to be too hot... More

My friend Sami and I attended reggae fest at Sugarloaf and in doing so stayed at this near by hotel. The building was very old but in our opinion very pretty. Being college students we found the stay to be quiet affordable and we also felt as though we were valued guests (which was appreciated due to many misconceptions about... More

Don't let the exterior pictures fool you. Dirty, smelly, uncomfortable and not at all what is advertised. There's nothing grand, quaint or charming about this place. Our room was so musty the smell alone made you gag. The toilet area (there is no bath) was dirty, sheets were yellowed, bedspreads stained and the room had a single piece of goodwill... More

It's like time stopped.....80 or so years ago! That's the impression that I got from staying there one night this past winter. And yes, although I agree, it is no resort or a 4 or 5* hotel, it's worth staying at, just to get that sense of days gone by. Having gone to Sugarloaf a lot, I've driven past the... More

First and formost I am a person who just walks away from a bad experience and says lesson learned but not in this case. After reading some of the 4-5 stars ratings I would think they have been padded by the owners or friends of the owners to keep ratings high. If I could give it zero stars I would... More

Calm clean and spacious. Service was perfect. We were 5 friends in the family room and tricked our friend with the ghost myth. We put one smartphone in an old line phone in the bathroom and made it ring in the old tone. Dinner at the restaurant the other side of the road was good I recommend it

On the advice of a friend, we booked a room at the Herbert for an overnight ski trip. Tasteful decor throughout this old hotel - tall ceilings, Victorian wallpaper, porcelain sink, paned windows. Don't expect a flat screen TV on your bureau or sprawling rooms, but the comfortable bed, clean bath and floor, easy parking, and quiet, all for a... More

Stayed here over school break with my boyfriend. Booked a room with a king bed and loved. Very charming old place with antique phones from the 1920s, great lobby and cozy rooms. New owners are doing a lot to fix the place up. Talked to the front desk and looks like they are really bringing it back. The hotel is... More

I really liked the fact that there was a good restaurant across the street so we could walk to dinner. Also a convenience store and liquor store across the street. As for the hotel, the lobby and halls are historic and attractive, but our room was really shabby and depressing. Based on the other reviews, I think there is a... More

I made reservations to stay there because I was planning on taking my young son to his 1 day competition which ultimately got cancelled due to weather. When I reserved the room, there was no mention made of the "must cancel 14 days prior to arrival date" policy at the point of sale (phone). Apparently, the policy was on the... More
