The good points are beautiful river views from one side of the hotel, free wi-fi that worked well, and free breakfast buffet including scrambled eggs and bacon. Otherwise the hotel is clearly old (has that distinctive old New England wood and Pine Sol smell) but it's clean and the rooms are reasonably up-to-date. There was no elevator as far as... More

Just recently stayed for a second visit at this property. The staff are very friendly, very helpful and very efficient. The setting is lovely and once again had a river facing room. The renovations on the exterior were very well done.... Now time to look at some of the rooms. Our bed on the second visit was not great, but... More

Thank you so much for the feedback. Currently we are replacing the carpeting and bathroom tiles in the rooms which will be completed in the next few months. Then our next big priority is the lounge area. Due to the structure of the building, the ceiling height is something that we cannot change, but the look and decor is next... More

The Good; large rooms, clean, modern bathroom fixtures, great breakfast that includes hot items like eggs, meat, and waffles along with the continental standbyes. Fitness center equipment was high quality and the television w/remote worked. Internet had good speed. Refrigerator and microwave in the room. The Mediocre; light switch for bathroom was near the room's main door (had to reach... More

Thank you very much for your feedback. It would be very helpful to know which room you were in so we could replace the bed if needed. If you had a moment and could send an email to universityinn@roadrunner.com, we could address this problem. With respect to the smell, all of our common area carpets have been replaced as well... This hotel is an older property which is really well maintained & clean and very accommodating. THe bathrooms & beds seem to have been recently updated along with the flatscreen TV. We always love an included hot breakfast and met a lot of nice people at the buffet. This hotel is by no means a resort but is friendly, comfortable... More

We spent one night here while driving from Mississippi to Nova Scotia. The price was great, the room was clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was included and it was very good. Lovely little town. Really enjoyed our dinner at Pat's Pizza. More

We have been coming to the University Inn since 2003 when my daughter entered college. Tracey has made huge improvements since then and we will always stay there when in Orono. We have stayed there countless times as our son went to college there as well. The place is clean and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. You can't... More

Everything went very smoothly (from initial contact all the way through the stay). The staff was very helpful and we enjoyed our stay. They can expect our business again next season. Tracey was very polite and always in contact to make sure we had everything we needed. More

Place is kinda grungy, no big deal. What gets it on the list of absolute worst places Ive ever stayed- poor customer service and mice. When you are greeted by a mouse at 3am and have to switch rooms - I dont know - maybe you should close the room off, put a mousetrap in, call the owner..exterminator. Not wake... More

This review is very inaccurate. This guest checked in and paid for two rooms for DJ's at a local bar. A man from the second room returned at 2 am and asked to be moved to another room because he saw a mouse. When we went in the next morning to investigate a potential mouse (we've never had this problem... More

Stayed here on Nov. 11 & 12, 2011 for a three day shopping excursion in Bangor. I found it a benefit to have the full breakfast as it saved time not having to wait in a line at Denny's and then wait for service. Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. There is no coffee maker in the room but... More
