Have stayed in this hotel many times over the years but I think that it's fallen on very hard times. Our stay was riddled with problems: 1 - I paid for my father's room up front on Expedia, but we checked out separately and when my father went to check out the charged him for the room – he unknowingly... It is under construction in the lobby. My wife is 5'4" tall and could barely reach the new counter to sign, but other then that the hotel was clean and good. More

Howard Johnson South Portland has a great location, comfortable rooms, and a nice swimming pool and fitness area. The breakfast buffet was mediocre, but that's not why I chose this hotel. I found the staff helpful, especially with my questions about synching my phone to their wireless internet. More

Stayed here for the first (and last) time this past week-end. The room was not very clean. Food crumbs on the window sill, dried pee on the toilet, and the rugs were absolutely filthy. Went to the nearest department store to buy lysol wipes, room deodorizer and fabric spray. The room had a very strong mold smell the t.v. didn't work,... More

Stayed here for the first time a couple days ago. I found this property to be well-managed, clean and quite affordable during the winter months. The rates tend to be higher in the summer due to the proximity of beaches. The room was comfortable and the continental breakfast was standard for such properties in the area. Did not use the... This overpriced motel is right at home among all the other overpriced motels in Portland. Their prices range widely, even as you stand at counter and hear room rates as people check in. The lobby is shabby, the staff is surly, and the motel appears to be a grab-the-money-while-you-can operation. Unless you have an unlimited budget and can afford an... More

We paid $55 per night and for the price, can't complain. Some things to note - air con is loud, so will annoy some people. Old coffee bag in pot and m and m on the floor, dusty mirror. But the bathroom was spotless. Car parking out front. More

We booked this with hotels.com and looked at all the reviews. They were good at the time we booked it, a few months in advance. About a week before we were to leave, I checked the reviews again and the most recent ones were not good. All had to do with the cleanliness of the room. My in-laws stayed there,... More

The hotel is conveniently located to I-95 and all the shopping and dining nearby. The room was clean and comfortable and made for a good night's sleep. As a guest there, I stupidly left behind a rather expensive camera in my room. The cleaning crew found it and the hotel manager mailed it to me in Albuquerque. That alone has... More
