Southwest harbour is a lovely little town, and staying at this B & B just made my whole experience even better. It's a beautiful house, with great antiques everywhere. I stayed in the Captain's nook for two nights over labor Day weekend, and couldn't have had a better time!. More

Our family of two parents and three teenagers experienced a memorable week at the Harbour Cottage Inn. The Southwester cottage served as a wonderful base for exploring Mount Desert Island. Driving the Acadia loop, hiking Jordan Pond (and eating popovers at the Pond House), shopping Bar Harbor, biking the Carriage Roads, sailing Sommes Sound aboard the Friendship Sloop, hiking the... So, we picked the hottest week in years to visit Maine hoping to get away from the Texas Summer. Oops. We understand there are no air conditioners in Maine and the room was very warm but the owners brought in a fan and did what they could The nights were cool and comfortable. I loved the "at home" feel from... More

We arrived at the Harbour Cottage Inn after two days of camping at Acadia. We found the Southwest Harbor area very relaxing and the Harbour Cottage Inn to be in a quiet but centrally located spot on this part of Mt. Desert. We only spent one night but the Inn was well maintained and the owners provided everything we could... More

We arrived at 7:30 PM, without reservations, and Don immediately accomodated us with a room at this lovely B&B. We had a view of Southwest Harbor, and were just minutes from Acadia National Park. This was our first trrip to Maine, and we wanted to stay somewhere away from the congestion of Bar Harbor, yet close enough for an easy... More

We were warmly welcomed at this beautful and well-appointed B & B, and loved both the inn and Southwest Harbor. Our innkeeper was very helpful in recommending the best ways for our family of three to enjoy this picturesque area, and helped us discover some really beautiful, less "touristy" sites and activities that became the highlights of our trip. Breakfasts... More

Very nice B&B, run more like a boutique hotel than a typical B&B in that you rarely see the staff (except at breakfast) unless you're looking for them - in which case, they show up at the touch of a button. We stayed in the Yawl, which is airy and bright, if a bit on the small side. The only... More

We stayed here in 2004 as a family and loved to return. This time we (myself and two children) stayed in two different sets of rooms, and they both worked out very well. The breakfasts are varied and delicious (especially the omlettes and French Toast), and the staff most friendly and helpful. Wifi is available in all the rooms. This... More

I traveled to Southwest Harbor in the recent weeks (in July) with my brother. I researched online extensively and was so excited to visit the Harbour Cottage Inn. We also stayed on the third floor (the Harborside) as other reviewers have. We did not find the Cottage hot or stuffy at all. The temperatures could be warm during the day... More

The inn was quaint. The staff was helpful and pleasant. However, there is no air conditioning and it got up to 93 degrees when we were there. Our room was on the 3rd level and the heat rose to the top of the house and it was hot at nite. Would fall asleep with ice (from the ice bucket downstairs)... More

RECORD HOT DAY Visitors to Maine, especially in July and August, typically enjoy the beauty of sleeping with a window open, feeling the breeze and being perfectly comfortable in the Down East air. In coastal Maine, it is rare to find a bed and breakfast that has AC because 99% of the time, it is an obstacle to enjoying the... More
