I am a connected person. This wonderful inn makes you disconnect. No cell, no wifi except at the main lodge, no TV either. At first it made me anxious and then I went to dinner sat back and relaxed. The place is beautiful, quiet and just what I needed after a tough week. We settled down and made use of... More

My husband and I were in need of a break from everyday life and wanted to get away from it all. We wanted to be able to spend some time with nature and relax without sleeping on the ground, and our choice to stay at SRL was perfect! We were in a cabin facing the woods (cabin 17) and, while... More

This was our second stay at the Savage River Lodge and it was just as fabulous as our first trip over the Christmas Holiday in 2010. The drive through the mountains is beautiful and the lodge is a warm and welcoming spot after the hustle and bustle of Washington, DC. The staff is wonderful and the porch was open for... More

We stayed at Savage River Lodge while biking the GAP TRail. They are not near the trail, but shuttled us from and to the trailhead when we wanted (for $40). The Lodge was beautiful as were the cabins. Our cabin had a King bed upstairs, with a large living area and bathroom downstairs. It was delightful. We did some hiking... More

Even though we had gloomy weather we couldn't have had a more relaxing stay. Great hiking and the cabins were wonderful. The food was excellent (though a bit pricy). We went for a weekend and wished we'd stayed another day.

My wife and I visited SRL recently during a business trip. The hospitality of all the staff and that of the owners Jan & Mike, was genuine and professional while being relaxed. We enjoyed the spaciousness of the cabin, the warmth of the lodge and the serenity of the woods. We truly did "lose track of time" while walking the... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at SRL for two nights. Although we've both travelled extensively, we were well-pleased with the entire experience, from start to finish. The cabin was very comfortable and nicely appointed. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive, and the food at the Lodge was excellent. While some complain about the price of the cabins, it's really... More

I went here for a night with my boyfriend for his birthday. While I love camping and being "out in nature" - my boyfriend grew up in the city - and is not terribly comfortable in the "wilderness." This was the best compromise. He was completely freaked out as we were driving up the long gravel driveway in the dark... More

We spent four nights in this lovely escape nestled in the woods of western Maryland. The lodge is definitely the main attraction, with a massive stone fireplace towering in the center of the main room and whimsical appointments throughout. Two things kept this from being a 5-star review: 1) The cabins are very comfortable but feel fairly generic and characterless.... More

My husband and I are doing "getaways." Our kids are grown and live far away so we decided to take little mini vacations to the B&Bs and/or Country Inns in our area. We took one of our getaways on 2/26 to the Savage River Lodge in Frostburg, Maryland. We always research the area that we are going to so we... More
