Title says it all. There's a reason the dining room is so empty. I stayed for 10 days, and after the first three, didn't even have breakfast there. Watery eggs, dishwater coffee, the most sullen, unhelpful waitstaff I've ever come across. The menu is horribly overpriced, for mediocre-to-awful food and small portions. Walk down the street to the Spring Street,... More

Hotel conveniently located 5 min walk to local main street and 15 minute walk to the Clark Museum. Hotel seems like it would have been a grand and modern hotel 30 years ago and the rooms would need at some point some major upgrading to keep up with the 2000s, but no complaint as the room is big, clean, free... Just had the most wonderful Christmas with. Carl and Marylin. Food, service and Yule tide festivities all excellent. Sure the plumbing is vocal but you will find this in any English Inn or Pub. We just laughed at it as it reminded us of our visits there. So get with it you moaners and don't be afraid to use your legs... More

Inn very comfortable and well decorated. I was there for Christmas and the fires were roaring and the food was great. The Inn keeper and his wife are so friendly and helpful. Lovely town but closed up tight as the college was closed and all students gone. I would recommend it.

Good point - room was clean and spacious. Not so good - staff attitude seem very disinterested, particularly bar/restaurant...generally we felt superfluous. Difficulty - Satnav reference took us up a mountain into NY state. Very picturesque (although in a howling storm). Known problem - perhaps hotel could have flagged it up? Stay again - probably not.

We were on a tour of New England and before embarking checked out all the hotels on Trip Advisor. Having read many of the disappointing comments we approachaed the visit with trepidation. However we had a delightful time. The room was very different from the usual anonymous heavy furniture and blinds. It was warm and inviting, indeed it was the... More

Travelling down from Vermont, had a bit of trouble getting here as there is still tidying up after Hurricane Irene, couple of main roads closed. Arrived early evening in Williamstown to a town that looked like something out of the film the Truman Show. Hotel okay, lots of parties, conventions and seminars. Ate in the hotel the first night, food... More

This is clearly on the list of bus tour stops and there is a need to avoid the restuarant at the times the tours are arriving/departing. We ate in the hotel first night, meal ok, but dined out in a Thai restuarant in town on night two for a bit of variety (and much better value) Breakfast first morning we... More

We stayed as part of a group for one night, and having travelled for many hours we had to endure a "welcome talk" from the owner when most of us just wanted to get out of the coach. We were also advised to make a reservation for dinner as they were very busy. The dinner was good but expensive, made more so... More

Feared the worst judging by other comments but pleasantly surprised. Room was chinzy but perfectly pleasant, meal in the bar with great piano background playing was terrific. Breakfast was slow but when it did arrive was fine. Williamstown was charming and the Clark Gallery a real gem.Would stay here again, reception staff very welcoming.
