I spent Memorial Weekend here. The cottage was old, but well maintained. The only complaint would be the shower. It was hard to get the right temperature and the nozzle did not work properly. The view of the lake was amazing and I fell asleep to the waves. There was cable TV and WI-Fi along with a fridge and microwave.... More

The entire property has seen its better days. I sympathize with the plight of Minnesota resort owners, particularly in a buyers property market, but today's leisure traveler has both expectations and options. That musty lake odor in the "villa" did bring childhood memories to mind, but the nostalgia soon passed to be replaced by an impression of slow decay. If... More

It's what you expect for an average/less than average Minnesota resort. Outdated, but probably bustling in the summer with drunken hoards of wedding attendees, high school reunions, and the like. Nothing really wonderful nor really horrible about the place. But it is probably too expensive for the quality of the place.

Horrible, dated place. DO NOT STAY HERE. My sister recently stayed here with her family and my other sister. She said it used to be a nice place--- like 20 years ago. Everything was very dated, unclean and just plain terrible. She has young children and didn't even feel safe letting them sleep in the cribs the resort offered. Even... More

This was our fifth stay at Ruttgers Birchmont, and once again we found it to be a peaceful and relaxing vacation. We have a large family, and Ruttgers is perfect for a family summer vacation because everyone can choose the lodging that suits them best, whether it's a room in the lodge or a mult-bedroom cabin. The restaurant on site... More

My 8 year old son and I spent a long weekend at Ruttgers. We had a parkside lodge room. It was out-dated, but plenty of space. The bathroom is small-shower only. The best part of the resort is the Garden Grill restaurant. Walleye every night, and service with a smile! Generous free continental breakfast every morning. Includes fresh fruit, yogurt,... More

Ruttger's has a beautiful location and very friendly and helpful staff. We rented the one bedroom cabin for the weekend and the pontoon boat for a day. They made sure all of our needs were met. The indoor fitness center and pool is world class. The beach is great for kids of all ages. We had a fire pit directly... More

We have been coming to Ruttger's for 8 years straight. We started off in the main lodge and as our family grew, we now stay in a lakefront cabin. The location is wonderful! The lunch menu is good and is improving every year. It has much more variety than the standard club sandwich! The breakfast buffet is a bonus. I... More

Starting with the positive features: Beautiful location, lovely lakeshore property and friendly staff. Unfortunately, we were overwhelmed with the negatives... Our room was gross, disinfectant smell combined with moldy odor, disgusting towels, poor/no ventilation, sulfurous water smell and quality, much noise from upper floor guests and horrible beds just topped it off... We had no housekeeping during our visit, alerted... More
