The Hotel has a nice feel and the staff provide great service. The food in the restaurant is excellent. The rooms are just ok and the beds and pillows are not very comfortable. The Judy Garland museum is right next door and that was a fun visit.

We're we're put in a poolside room which was hot and noisy. When we asked for a different room were told none were available, The rooms were outdated and shabby with an analog tv. The beds were hard and old. Pillows were flat and sheets were thin. Do not stay here.

The Sawmill Inn of Grand Rapids is a step back to the 70's Holidome era and while they've done a little Northwoods theming in the common areas, not much else looks like it has changed. (When is the last time you actually got KEYS? Not keycards, but real, metal keys?) The rooms and corridors aren't what we would call retro;... More

This was my 38th year & my family's 53rd year staying here for Easter wknd. This use to be the Holiday Inn & though not much has changed..thats the reason we love it! Great food, bar & people. The pool area is the largest I've ever seen in any hotel which makes it great for gatherings & the staff is... More

As many other reviewers have said, the rooms that are poolside are extremely loud. We were there on a Saturday night and apparently there were three birthday parties that evening - one in which one family had booked a room and invited 35+ people just to come for the pool and party. Meanwhile, guests that had PAID for rooms found... More

We just stayed at this motel while attending our granddaughters basketball tournament. Although the motel has been in Grand Rapids for many years, we have never stayed there, We enjoyed the location and our stay. It is winter in Minnesota so we have to take that into consideration. Our room was nice and the food was very good. We had... More

pool is awesome for kids, hot tub is great. Being able to sit poolside with food and beverages while watching the kids play is THE ONLY reason we continue to come. The front desk staff is consistently RUDE and put out by any requests (and you will have to make several) The rooms for the most part are outdated, too... More

The room was older and very worn down. Even the door looked like something you'd find in an old hospital or school, not a hotel. The bathroom looked like it had been updated in the last 10 years or so, but the ceiling tiles were all rusty, as were the metal fixtures for the tp and the kleenex. The outlets... More

My family (2 adults + 3 kids) I stayed here because of TripAdvisor reviews and I read most of the reviews. I agree with most that the hotel provided the basic needs at a fair cost ($85 USD). The room was dated however it was clean, the room did not come with a fridge, microwave, or a coffee maker, the... More
