Izaak Walton is so unbelievably cozy and cute it's hard to believe it exists in this decade and hasn't been completely overrun. You can catch the train at the historic whitefish station and enjoy gorgeous views of the snow covered mountains and frozen rivers before being dropped off steps from this little chalet. If you can catch them during demo... More

Izaak Walton Inn is not fancy, it is historic. Just outside beautiful Glacier National Park, this is a truly comfortable hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful. Food is excellent, we highly recommend their restaurant. If you love trains this is the place to be. More

I was lucky enough to spend 2 weeks in this amasing hotel. Essex is very calm place with no attractions but that's a good place to have some rest after interesting but exhausting tours around mountains. Rooms are rather comfortable and clean. House keepers try to do their best to make your rooms cosy. Restaurant on a ground floor is... More

We stayed here in early April for a romantic anniversary experience. If you are looking for a modern, amenity laden resort, this is not the place. However, if you are looking for a historical, peaceful, cozy hideaway, this is the place for you. We arrived by train and taken to the inn. Our first night's dinner of chipotle chicken and... More

Be careful to read cancellation policy. We had made reservations within the inn's reservation cancellation policy but we did not figure that we would be caught in an "Act of God" circumstances. We got stuck in Seattle by the floods in No Dakota with trains not running either direction the first week of June 2011. When we tried to work... More

We couldn't stay that night, but we were able to get in for the Valentine's Day dinner. Interesting is a nice way to put the way we describe the food, Our lobster tails were adequate in size, but unfortunately over cooked. The one diner in our party who had the filet mignon remarked that they had never ever had a... More

Arrived by the Amtrax so was picked up from the station by a member of staff. We were staying in one of the cabins so had breakfast while our bags were dropped off at the cabin which is a quick walk from the main building and across a bridge. The breakfast was delicious as was every meal we had there.... More

Had a great (!!) stay at the Izaak Walton Inn this past weekend. Went for my in-laws' 40th wedding anniversary and it couldn't have been any better. Arrived Saturday at noonish, checked in, hit the ski trails until about 4:30, napped, showered, and were then treated to a completely wonderful dinner in the restaurant. It was so goooood! Everyone on... More

We rode the train to Izaak Walton Inn. It was a fun trip on the train. The staff picked us up at the train stop. All the staff was very friendly. Check in went fast and since our train was late the restaurant was closed but the staff offered to make us something. They have awesome food in the restaurant.... More
