The rooms are plain but clean and the rates are fair. The continental breakfast is simple but adequate. The owners are very friendly. Great location near a lot of good hiking, skiing and biking. The town of Franconia is also kind of cute.

My husband and I loved staying at Hillwinds. Our room was situated right on the Gale River where we enjoyed the beautiful sound and sites. Tina was especially friendly - full of great stories and suggestions. Our room was very nice, clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. I would highly recommend Hillwinds to anyone traveling near the White Mountains.

The room was pleasant, as were the hosts, and the breakfast was fine. The room had a view of the river, which was better than the view at many motels where we've stayed. And the rate was very reasonable.
