This is the second time I have spent a night at Matyholweni Rest Camp (the first time just after they had opened). Although the accommodation at the main camp is excellent (and varies in price), the chalets at Matyholweni Rest Camp are lovely. They have a double bed and a couch for an extra person to sleep on. They are... More

Loved two days at Matyholweni. A few key things to add to the other reviews. - Unlike the main camp, you are staying within the park at Matyhlweni, which means you can be up and driving round as dawn breaks and sun sets. - You are staying in an electrified compound so no game will be coming up to your... We stayed one night at Matyholweni and 2 nights at the Main Camp (more as a result of that was what was available). The chalet/cabin was excellent, being good sized and very clean. It is self catering so ensure you have what you need. What we loved about the location was its remoteness in the area. I will admit that... More

We stayed at Matyholweni for 2 nights, previously having been to Main Camp a couple of times. Chalets are similar to the newer ones at Main Camp, with a TV and small deck. Ours was deep in the bush, which is fine except the view is very limited. You will see birds nearby but nothing else. There are no facilities... More

The lodge was clean, well-equipped and ideal for a trip to Addo. Quiet and a great braai made from an old truck wheel. Saw dozens of elephants, some lion and best of all a caracal slinking around. Highly recommended.

We have just returned from Addo and what a plus this camp was. Went in from Colchester and in 10 minutes we were in the camp. Although it is totally self catering and you have to be sure you have everything, the rooms are really lovely and the outside "entertaining" area is well designed. Microwave was not great (timer did... More

We really loved this camp. It was unbelievably quiet, no buses, hordes of tourists, no shops, just birds, bush and peace. Unfortunately there was a power failure on our last night. This the park management cannot be blamed for, but they really could put some candles or lighting of some sort in for such occasions. And why do they think... More

After going trough the entrance gate of Addo park you arrive at the cottages. Everything you need is present: kitchenette, bed and bathroom (good shower). Problem: only one bed, there's a sleeping couch but to small for adults. When you are 4 adults or have grown up kids, ask two beds!! The cottages are well situated at the park, go... More

We had stayed in two different camps in the Kruger Park (Skukuza and Pretoriuskop) and we expected to find something similar in Matyholweni Camp. It was surprising to find out that our cottage in Addo Park was bigger and better equipped located in a beautiful place. We booked a cottage for two people. The cottage was big, has a king... More

We stayed in a safari tent overlooking a waterhole. With a timber floor and a balcony, this is a superior form of camping. It was a relaxing spot and the tent was roomy, comfortable and clean. The refrigerator was a little noisy. The amenities are nearby and well maintained and clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. Refreshing, clean pool.... More
