We stayed 3 nights at Riverdene and were very sorry to leave again from the minute we arrived. This is the place to go if you travel with small kids (ours were 3 and 5) and want to offer them and yourselves an unforgettable safari experience plus all the comfort you could ask for regarding the lodge itself. We were... More

Although I think Riverdene in Shamwari Game Reserve is aimed at families, we as a couple found it suited us too... Very comfortable lodge, excellent service and out in the reserve was absolutely wonderful. Our guide/ranger Matthew went out of his to make it a memorable stay and we would recommend it highly. However, don't rely on having an internet... More

Stayed here with my 8 yr old daughter and 6 year old son for 4 nights in February. In their words ..."the best holiday ever!." From the cocktail on arrival to the hot chocolate offered on returning from the game drives, nothing was too much trouble for the friendly and enthusiastic staff. The game drives were incredible. We saw everything... More

What can i say? In a nutshell, we'd go back in a heartbeat. Well, it will be about 40 million heartbeats because we've already made plans to go back next year.... We stayed 3 nites. When we arrived, our kids found on each of their beds, Shamwari backpacks with kiddie stuff inside..... What a nice touch! Our game ride guide... More

We returned after many years away from South Africa. Riverdene Lodge was as we remembered it - superb in every way. We had our daughter with us this time. The lodge was perfectly set up for family. During the day there was a pool and a games room, fully staffed by excellent staff, We were made very welcome and all... More

Stayed two nights at Riverdene & had a great time. Had the most wonderful ranger, Vincent, who not only showed us the big 5 & very much more, but who also gave this very nervous, first time "off-roader" passenger complete confidence in his driving.Enjoyed the visit to the rehabilitation centre as well. Rooms were very spacious, clean & extremely comfortable. Only quibble... More

Thank you, for your feedback and especially your comments about Vincent your game ranger. Without a doubt this is not only exactly what it claims to be but goes beyond that description. The understated elegance of the whole Lodge should satisfy the most demanding of clients. Rooms are spacious with superb amentities and the public areas are inviting and, with only 9 rooms, never crowded. The food is imaginative and well presented, the wine... More
