This was our third time back with the whole family, 17 of us (ages 0-83), and as usual, it was wonderful. We rent the entire house for the week and pay for the breakfast and housekeeping. The inn is over a hundred years old and has the expected charm. It's continuously being updated, so seeing the yearly improvements is a lot of fun. This time, the kitchen had been brightened, a bathroom had been updated, and these great light-up pictures had been added to the hall. Adding outlets and updating the fox den (a separate structure with two rooms and a shared bathroom) is next on the list. Some of the highlights are the porch for relaxing, meals, playing cards, etc. (great even in rain), the delicious breakfast, the proximity to the beach (across the road), the art gallery/gift shop next door that occasionally has concerts, the boat rental (across the street), being close to the Adirondack Experience (3mn), wonderful hiking nearby and Meredith the manager (who feels like she's part of the family -she's so easy going and helpful.) We all highly recommend staying here! …

The spot is beautiful and very convenient for the Adirondack Museum but the Inn itself is sadly in need of a complete overhaul. The photos on the website do not show the peeling wallpaper and dirty porch cushions. Some may call it quirky and charming, I call it neglected and run-down. There were barely any outlets in the room, the lighting was almost non-existent. The room had been sprayed with strong disinfectant so that the air quality was very bad. I saw some very negative reviews on Trip Advisor but they were old so I assumed that the place had been fixed up. Meredith the manager tries her best under very difficult circumstances.

The Blue Mountain Lake Inn is a charming, quiet, family-run inn where you can easily access a host of activities in the beautiful natural surroundings. The antidote to our sterile, corporate-run world, this terrific inn gives you the opportunity to step back in time and take a break from life's worries.

The Blue Mountain Inn is the perfect place to step away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. The Inn transports you to a place and time outside of our everyday technology saturated existence. The Inn becomes a place to reconnect with yourself and with others. The highlight of the Inn is not the beauty of the Lake, nor the majesty of the mountains and forests that surround. It. The highlight of the Inn, is it’s keeper. Meredith is the name of the Inn’s keeper. Meredith personifies the spirit of the people that live there. She is welcoming, hard working, accommodating, and authentic. Thank you Meredith making my group’s trip there, a very memorable one. We are already planning our next trip there.

Charming rustic building full of quirky corners and decorative items. Meredith is a great host, and breakfast was delicious! Bathrooms are shared, and the rooms are simple, but the bed I had was super comfy!

My husband and I spent a night at Blue Mountain Lake Inn on our September tour of the Adirondacks.. The inn has a very interesting history...with its "boarding house" design. We prefer older inns - so we were appreciative of its Victorian character. Our room, Loon, was comfortable, very clean, & it shared a recently renovated bathroom (- with a wonderful huge tub) with the adjacent room. Innkeeper Meredith is a lovely young woman with lots of energy and terrific intentions to restore the inn. She is personable and a gracious hostess. Our breakfast was very complete- an extended continental- with a delicious quiche. The inn's location on Blue Mountain Lake- with the public beach right across the road- is a plus. This is a great mid Adirondack spot... with excellent museums, vistas, hiking options, land natural beauty all around.…

This is a historic property, built as a boarding house. It is rustic, as Meredith told us. We liked how hard she is working to preserve part of the history of the Adirondacks, and we enjoyed our stay. We were comfortable, the breakfasts were delicious, and there are plenty of things to do nearby. It is right across from the little public beach that has lifeguards in case you want to swim in he cold Blue Mountain Lake water. The Adirondack Experience (Museum) is a quick drive away and we spend part of one day and all of the next exploring it. We visited late in August as the leaves are already turning and summer is coming to an end. We met other friendly travelers at the Inn and enjoyed the company of Meredith and Mango.

My family and I stayed in the Osprey for a week. The view is beautiful and the beds were comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious. The service is great. Meredith is a good hostess and very funny! It is extra for room service and breakfast but very reasonable and definitely worth it. The deck is a great place for a family dinner too! The Inn is prettier than the pictures, some of which are outdated because Meredith keeps renovating. It has lots of charm. There is WIFI and 2 fire pits. My husband and I were there with our 1 1/2 and 3 1/2 year olds and it was fine. They could play in the living room or on the large deck. There are DVDs there. The beach is across the street and has a lifeguard during the day. The Adirondack museum is a pretty and interesting place to visit (5mn drive). The Wild Center is cool too (40mn drive). They have canoes you can use or you can rent a boat across the street (5mn walk away). There is a nice design shop/cafe in town. Long Lake has sea plane ride, larger beach with trampoline etc and icecream stands (15mn drive). I grew up going to Long Lake yearly and am a huge Adirondack fan but I think Blue Mountain Lake is the prettiest lake. We'll be back to this Inn :)…

We had a wonderful visit. The caretaker, Meredith, provided us with some area history; explaining that the Inn had been built as a boarding house for those building the 300 room hotel on the lake, Prospect House which when it opened its doors in the early 1880s, became the first hotel in the world to have electricity in every room - thanks to Thomas Edison. If you are looking for an authentic Adirondack experience, the Blue Mountain Inn is your stop. The rooms are comfortable and rustic. There are not many contemporary amenities, such as air conditioning or cable television, and that was perfect, as far as I was concerned. I slept like a baby with the pine scented breeze sweeping up off the lake. The Inn is kept very clean, even while undergoing renovation/preservation. I was delighted to feel as though I was a boarder from a previous century. We had a marvelous time visiting with other guests on the immense porch, and were served a lovely breakfast of quiche made by Meredith. The public beach is directly across the road and The Adirondack Center for the Arts is right next door. I will visit again, and will plan to spend a day just reading my book on a comfy chair on the porch!…

There are other lakes in the Adirondacks, but I doubt you will find one as stunningly scenic as Blue Mountain Lake. They tell me it has the cleanest water east of the Mississippi, and with one swim, bath or drink, you won’t doubt it. Set in the heart of the Park, the hamlet of Blue Mountain Lake has a drowsy charm that moves with the rhythm of the seasons. Set atop a breezy knoll among pines and cedars, this vintage Victorian vacation home has a welcome mat out if you’re looking to relax, explore, celebrate life and make memories. Nothing pretentious here, just a roomy house with stories in every odd corner, and a porch that could hold a full-size banquet or breakfast for two in the sun. Your sweet and attentive hostess, Meredith, will make you feel at home and give you great tips on local landmarks and amenities. She will cook you some of the best breakfasts – do try her quiche! Check out the kitchen – this is how families were fed for generations! Upstairs are six unique bedrooms with very comfortable beds: between the pillowtop mattresses and the Adirondack night air, you should sleep soundly. I feel very lucky to have found this Inn. In the past two years I’ve stayed here four times – there is so much to explore and experience right in the neighborhood – that is if you want to leave. Being an older house, there are always projects in the works, and I've seen some great improvements here - the new porch for one. There may be other properties around with fancier appointments, but I doubt you find one run with as much love. If you want to experience the classic hospitality of the North Country, do make time for yourself here.…
