Our hostess kept a nicely stocked kitchen with food enough to take along for snacks, really enjoyed that. It's a charming, old family home so we felt like guests vs. occupants. It's nice to stay in a home setting that's pet-friendly and clean, not so easy to find. Clayton is a nice community to visit and the scenery isn't bad... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Mulberry Cottage. We found it to be very cozy and comfortable. The location is wonderful - close to the down town and also to the Antique Boat Museum. It was nice to have room to spread out our things. Everything was very clean. The owner was very friendly, helpful and knowledgable about the area.... More

How to describe the ridiculousness that is the Mulberry Cottage "bed and breakfast"? First of all, the pros -- great location, just a few lovely blocks walking distance to all of the Clayton downtown. The house has A/C (albeit not very strong window units), which was essential in the summer heat. And I liked the wall paper choices, the furniture,... More

We stayed in Clayton knowing there are not many good hotels, etc. there. Found this place online, and it looked cute & bonus was we could bring dog. As soon as you walk in the strong musty odor is overwhelming, esp. in 90 degree weather. Walking up the steps from outside bushes are overgrown, spider webs plastered on windows on... More

I am sorry that this guest did not appreciate their stay, and that they didn't find a hotel that was better suited to their tastes. The criticisms of classic artwork (Munet and Modigliani, specifically), as well as being subjected to family photos, suggests they would have been more comfortable not staying in a bed in breakfast in general. This is... More

We stayed immediately after the last reviewer, and I read her review while there. I am VERY picky and have travelled all over the world--I don't expect five-star if I don't pay for it, and I've changed hotels and lost money b/c of it enough times to make my husband crazy--and, while some things about the cottage didn't sit well... I planned a lovely 4 night getaway in beautiful Clayton, NY and made a terrible mistake of staying at the Mulberry Cottage. The pictures of the cottage on-line should have been of the ant filled kitchen with extremely outdated dirty appliances and dishes, the smallest and worst bathroom (mold on the ceiling), the poop filled backyard, the over grown lilac... Step back in time and have a very restful stay at Mulberry Cottage Bed and Breakfast in Clayton New York. Cozy cottage is close to everything: grocery, marina, restaurants and shopping. Very reasonably priced.
