We actually only used the hotel for a lunch with some friends and took our boat there It is in a superb location but the staff lack some social skills One of our party of 6, was wearing a perfectly reasonable woolly knitted hat as it was quite cool (and she was over from Australia so feeling the cold quite... On a cold and wet May evening we decided to trek no further in search of a meal when we saw the warm and cosy lounge, with relaxing settees and chairs, in this hotel/restaurant. Ordered a bottle of wine whilst we perused the menu which had many good choices of pub grub with a slight twist. Overall we enjoyed a... More

This is a delightful Inn that serves great English beer in 2 parlours, plus succulent meals in an indoor/outdoor restaurant right along the Thames river. The bedrooms are small, but who cares when you can spend your time strolling along the Thames or enjoying pints of beer in the parlour? The beds are comfortable, but beware: there is no AC.... More

Lovely olde world hotel. Very comfy. Only criticism is that bar staff are so sad and bored looking. When you order, you feel like you are interrupting them. Long sad faces! Very abrupt! If you work in a service industry, please act like you actually like serving people.

Stopped here on a Sunday afternoon to stay over for Monday. The place was quite in terms of customers but the bar had a good atmosphere. Price was excellent for the quality of the place. The rooms were great, clean and modern with some nice touches. My room had a balcony over looking the Thames where I sat with a... More

I had a room upstairs with a balcony opening out onto the river. The room was very comfortable and I loved the quirks of the hotel, such as slightly uneven floors (given the age of the building this is more than acceptable!). We ate in the restaurant downstairs and the food and service were both excellent! Would recommend!

Alone, on business, and chose The Swan. Great choice. Nice comfy cosy room with a good flat-screen tv and a DVD player. Quiet and with windows on two walls so nice and light. Ate in the bar and enjoyed the food and ale. Can sit outside by the river too. Excellent free wifi: I could actually watch BBC iPlayer. I'll... More

We read reviews of several places to eat in the area and The Swan had the most favourable. As a result we chose to eat there. The welcome was warm and friendly and the staff were most accommodating and helpful. The food was excellent. Good filling tasty homemade fayre served in lovely comfortable surroundings with a great view of the... More

Nice room, nice pub, OK food, excellent location if you want to stay in Staines! Not many rooms, so if they are full the Anne Bowlyn hotel is just across the road. If you want a quick brekkie, make sure they know. Otherwise it might be a bit languid. Unfortunately parking is a bit of a lottery.
