I have worked (and still am) as a tour guide for Matoke Tours in Uganda and every time I brought clients there they were overwhelmed by the view, very friendly staff and good "Tents". Beds including mosquito-net can be driven outside (Wheels under the bed) and you can spend the night under the African stars! All sides of the tens... More

The location of the lodge is breathtaking and there is a WOW factor when you enter the gates. The common areas are great, swimming pool was fantastic. Food and service is excellent. We felt the attention to detail given in the common areas did not reach the rooms. While the rooms are big and comfy, the nets were not in... More

Upon arrival, we were immediately met by the staff. Asked about our plans and shown our rooms. We were offered snacks as we arrived between lunch and dinner. The pool is perfect looking down into the valley. The drive to the park entrance is about 30 min, but very relaxed. The manager proposed a great itinerary and we managed to... More

True up-scale Eco-Safari Lodges aren't plentiful in Uganda but this is one of the better ones. Rooms are stand-alone part cabin part tent with plenty of room and an outstanding bathroom/shower. Beds can be pulled out onto the deck for a "sleep beneath the stars" opportunity, although the pathway lighting kind of spoiled the effect for me. Good food and... More

We spend 2 nights with our 3 kids at this lodge which is located just outside the park and has a fantastic view; The rooms are spacy, clean and are separated sufficiently to give total privacy. The service is friendly, the food is good. We would recommend this place. The overall design is not very exiting but nothing wrong with... More

Katara Lodge was by the far our favorite place in all Uganda. Perched high above a valley, we had breathtaking views. We loved the bathroom -- a claw foot tub that looked out across that valley -- it was truly amazing. The water pressure was great and plenty of hot water. For our two night stay we had early morning... More

We had a wonderful couple of days at Katara on our last trip trough Uganda & Rwuanda. This place has wonderful view of the Rift Valley. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Cottages are really huge and very clean! Meals are also excellent. It is a bit of a drive into the QEP for the gamedrives (30 min).

Sleeping under the stars listening to the elephants rummaging around below the escarpment was a magical experience. (The bed can be rolled out of the room to the huge balcony. Beds are covered in a mosquito net.) The room was palatial, and beautiful, with the most draw dropping views over the QENP. THe staff were kind, well trained and attentive... More

My wife and I recently completed an 8-night trip to Uganda and our favorite hotel was definitely Katara Lounge. The rooms are beautiful, the staff are friendly and helpful and the view is fantastic. I recommend this lodge to everyone.
