My wife and I used the lodge as a base to discover the Coromandel region over the Xmas/New Year period. For that purpose the lodge is well positioned and while only about a 10 minute drive from Whitianga, could just as easily have been a million miles from the commercial bustle there. Charles and Tam were great hosts and put... More

The reviews on this page are a testament to the hard work of Tam and Charles. From the moment we drove over the Wairua stream and into their beautiful valley, the scenery and service took our breath away. We really recommend this retreat for couples who enjoy nature and wildlife. We also recommend to arrive early and make the most... More

This place would be one of New Zealand's best kept secrets! Tam and Charles have done an amazing job to bring out the best of this property. The natural beauty of the garden alone is worth the stay. My partner and I stayed in a Queen snug for a long weekend and the room and it's setting we're first class.... More

My wife and I stayed at Wairua Lodge for three nights at the end of December in a Queen Snug room and were pleasantly surprised and in fact amazed when we first arrived. One of the hosts, Tam gave us a tour of the lodge on arrival and her and Charles have obviously worked very hard to make it as... More

We stayed 2 nights in a Queen snug and this place really takes your breath away. The garden is really beautiful .. especially at this time of the year ... and it is so peaceful; the only sounds you hear are the birds chirping and the sound of the wind. The rooms were cosy and the bed was very comfortable.... More

We ended up staying an extra night we loved the place so much! We were on our honeymoon and travelled to Fiji after we stayed here and I recommend this place much highly than I recommend the place we were at in Fiji. We didn't get the pleasure of meeting Tam but Charles was lovely and friendly and very welcoming.... More

I am a single 32 year old american who was traveling alone for 2 weeks in NZ. I got lucky and found this place and ended up spending my last two nights in NZ here. This is a wonderful place to start or finish your trip as you get to ease in or out of all the fun you are... More

We stayed in the River Deck Suite at Wairua for two days, which was wonderfully relaxing, but not nearly long enough. There are beautiful grounds with walks through the bush, which we did not get to experience, and will certainly return for. The River deck suite is lovely and rustic, lots of wood, with two bedrooms - you walk though... More

If you follow the directions sent to you from the property owners then you will have no problem finding this place, nothing like a bit of adventure to get there! We arrived around 6pm to a warm welcome and a guided tour of everything available. Such a stunning place, surrounded by native bush, streams & bird life. You can tell... More

Takes a bit of finding, but just when you say 'we must have passed the turn off', the sign appears directing you on. It's very quiet and secluded, being surrounded by bushlan with lovely views. We were greeted by our hosts who showed us our room and gave us the rundown on facilities. The room was a generous size and... More
