Having stayed in many b&b's around the country, we have now added the 1902 Turnpike House to our list of all-time favorites. Paul gave us a brief history and tour of the home upon arrival, and Cindy had everything decorated beautifully for fall. Our room was spacious and comfortable. There were ample places to sit and relax inside and outside,...

Perfect location for Skiers. Excellent breafast (cream cheese stuffed french toast was amazing), friendly and welcoming. We look forward to our next visit.
We loved our two-day stay at the 1902 Turnpike House B&B. We were attending the Grandfather Mountain Highland Game and the inn was convenient to the venue. It is a lovely home in the mountains where the weather was perfect for sitting outside on the porch in the evening admiring the lovely flowers and the variety of birds visiting the...

We have stayed in lots of B&Bs, and we think that there is none better than the 1902 Turnpike House. Cindy and Paul are gracious and accommodating hosts. The setting is beautiful, the rooms are extremely comfortable, and the breakfasts are superb. (The cookies that are always available in the dining room will remind you of the wonderful treats that...

1902 Turnpike House is the only B&B we visit in Banner Elk. Paul and Cindy became friends on our first visit and have always treated us a honored guests. The rooms are quite comfortable and well appointed, the breakfast's are ample and elegant, and we highly recommend 1902 House to anyone wanting to be pampered.
This was a lovely way to spend a couple of days in the NC ski country. The inn keepers, Paul and Cindy, were most accommodating, friendly and informative about the area. The cookies - available almost anytime - were yummy, as were the two breakfasts. Paul goes all out on those! Our room was comfortable too. And the 1902 Turnpike...

We have been staying at the Turnpike House for 10 years now. We cut our Christmas tree in Banner Elk every December and look forward to our stay here. We enjoy it so much that we can sometimes find other reasons to escape to the mountains for a long weekend getaway to see Paul and Cindy (the owners).
Paul is...

My boyfriend and I stayed here last weekend and we have agreed that it was the most pleasant B&B experience we have ever had. We almost always stay in Bed and Breakfasts when we travel, and there are some things they all could learn from 1902 Turnpike House.
First of all, the innkeepers are welcoming and warm, without impeding on...

Just returned from a wonderful two days at Paul and Cindy’s bed and breakfast in Banner Elk. Our hosts were very friendly and couldn’t have done more to make us feel at home. The breakfasts were to die for; easily the best we’ve had at any of the B&Bs we’ve visited. Be sure and ask about the mystery tree in...
