The Driftwood Motel is right out of a horror movie. We stayed on the way to the outerbanks - water smell made us gag, dirty and the lock on the door was iffy. We put a chair in front of the door. Didn't sleep - too scared. We were so happy to get out of there. Would trust the Bates... More

This place is dirty and in shambles. Bathroom tiles broken. Sinks look like they were never cleaned. Pillows are from the Dark Ages. Bed covers and curtains were dingy and stained. Floor was so bad I didn't walk around in bare feet. Same for bathroom, where I wore my flip-flops in the shower. It's right next to the ferry, which... More

worst place ever..they charged my credit card twice and I have left several messages for a call back and no one will call me back. It was dirty, the smell of the water made me sick, the curtains had stains all over them and the shower had clumps of hair in it. Only positive was the ferry.

Dumpy Mom and Pop Motel at the end of the world. But the shrimp are old school. Hush puppies and slaw ok but the shrimp and oysters took me back to a happy time. Service is fast and the price is 15-18 dollars. Great value for ghood seafood

When travelling by bicycle, one sometimes has to put up with sub-par accommodations. This was one. We arrived on a hot October afternoon to find no one at the motel but there was a number on the door to call, which produced a manager in about 15 minutes. We learned upon his arrival that a local youth had driven through... More

This place was much to my dismay the only one on Cedar Island and after getting lost on the way down and driving 11 hrs with the parents we were beat. If it had not been for those factors I would have drove the hour back to get a decent place to stay! We got out there around 6pm and... More

This is a fixer-upper that has not been touched in years! It is convenient to the ferry but that's about all it has going for it unfortunately. The tub had a big chip out of it and was rusted. It did not drain until the next morning and was the most disgusting way to start the day. We would NOT... More

Right at the ferry terminal and ferry times make this place worth while. The next closest place to Cedar Island is an hour away. It needs repair outside, the rooms are barely acceptable, but the location and price make it a worthwhile consideration. The outdated and worn carpet and bathroom tile was clean. It did not show up on my... More

The owners of this place are clearly banking on the fact that they're the only hotel conveniently located to the ferry for those who want to get an early start out to Ocracoke. And trust me, you'll want to leave the Driftwood Motel as soon as the first morning ferry leaves - we couldn't get out of there fast enough.... More

We were winging it travelling through the outer banks. Ended up at the Driftwood Motel, and it was an awesome experience. This is a no frills place, but a very clean room, good bed, good shower, and EXCELLENT restaurant. The staff was incredibly friendly. After dinner, took a walk on the beautiful beach that was right there by the hotel.... More
