Okay, usually I'm not too picky...after all, "it's just a place to lay your head", right?

Well, this place was so bad... lobby was scary to begin with, and when I saw the room, I turned and ran to the Comfort Inn across the street. Sure, I lost money (because I booked through Expedia), but at that point, I would gladly have PAID MONEY to get out of there. The carpet was filthy, room had a funny smell, very musty or something. Furniture was old and very dusty, looked like someone had not been in to clean for about six months. The sheets looked clean, but they were gray. There was only one double bed for me and my grown son. The clerk said we could 'upgrade' to two beds for only $7 per night. "Upgrade"? To two beds? Huh? Sorry, but I'm outta here!

I always take the bad reviews on this (or any) site with a grain of salt, but this motel WAS really, really that bad.

Thanks for listening. I'm also writing to Expedia, as I think this is something they should be aware of.

I booked this place on Hotels.com. When I found it, I was a bit leery of the exterior of the place. But it was for must one night, and we were on our way the next morning.

I approached the door and noticed an odor, I figured it was outside. As soon as the door swung open, I was bombarded with the odor of cat urine. Let me stress, it smelt like 10,000 cats had urinated in this tiny room, I never stepped over the threshold.

I when back to the office and gave the gentleman his keys back and said, ā€œI canā€™t stay here. No way!ā€

We found a better place to stay and I did call Hotels.com and they did return my funds, thanks hotels.com!

Hard pass. 10 minutes in there before I was running back down to the office to get as far from that place as possible. If your flight is cancelled and you need a place to stay, I think the streets might be a better option, unless you're down with feeling like you are two seconds away from being thrown into someones trunk and found 30 feet off the highway in a shallow grave by a jogger.

#SSDGM. Do not stay here.

My boyfriend and I unsuspectingly ended up with a long overnight layover in Charlotte. It was a rough day. We looked up the hotel on google once we got to the airport. The taxi was $14 each way, a flat rate since the hotel is only 5 minutes from the airport. I'm not going to lie, this was not the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in, but at the end of the day it was cheap ($54 including taxes), clean, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. They were able to accept us very quickly without a reservation and gave us a wakeup call, and had the taxi waiting for us to return to the airport.

Unexpected flight delay forced an overnight in Charlotte. Went to this place because it was closest to the airport. I have very minimal expectations. I don't care if paint is peeling. But sheets and towels that have not been laundered since the last guest: that's not OK. There was sandy grit between the sheets; the towels had a used-since-being washed texture and had loose hair on them. I've never seen anything like it before, and I keep a low budget.
I got there around 1 a.m., profoundly exhausted; had to go at 5:30 to catch a plane. Ended up keeping my clothes on, sleeping on top of the top sheet with one of my shirts covering the pillow as some kind of barrier. I didn't talk to the desk attendant because once I'd surveyed the scene I read online reviews and saw that what I was experiencing was normal there.
I've never been so uncomfortable about a place to sleep. If it weren't for security concerns I would rather have slept on the grass.
The only reason to go to this place is that it is a room with a bolt on the door.
I wish that I had saved the $70 I paid through Expedia, the $14 taxi to and the $8 Uber from, and had suffered sitting in a chair at the airport overnight. Even if it had all been free I would rather have sat at the airport. I doubt that they allow lying on the floor at the airport, but if they do allow it during the wee hours then I would much, much rather have slept on the airport floor. For real.
I will say that, contrary to some other reviewers' reports, it was quiet while I was there.

The place was super creepy. I arrived late one night as the airport shut down because of a storm and I was stranded in Charlotte for 24+ hours. This was the only hotel I could find available. The parking lot of dark, dirty and has a very transient feel to it. The sign outside suggest they have weekly rates.

On my way to my room, many of the outside ac units looked like they'd been beaten and kicked in. The room was very dim, smelled of stale smoke and mildew. I went to try to turn on the AC unit there was a massive layer of dust sitting in the unit. I went to pull back the bed sheets to check for bed bugs and the mattress was just really old and nothing in the place looked sanitary. Beggars can't be choosers so they say but i'd have rather slept at the airport. BTW, I didn't see any bed bugs. One point for Royal Inn.

I was in the room a total of 15 minutes before I realized this was how horror movies begin and I needed to try to find anything else. I packed up and went to the front desk, told the night attendant I wasn't able to stay in the room and he told me he wasn't going to refund my money.

I could see a Comfort Inn not far away and decided to take my chances and walk there. As I started walking through the parking lot, a man started following me and waving at me. Then he just turned around and walked straight into the tall grass/ woods area near the road. I wish I was making this *ish up.

I thought is this really how it ends? Like some creepy scene out of True Blood! I finally make it to the Comfort Inn and they take pity on me and book me the last room at a crazy price but whatever, I live to tell the tale. The Royal Inn and Suites is a scary place and I recommend it to NO ONE.

Got into Charlotte late and found nothing available at all...ended up going to this hotel and omg when I got there, people were in the parking lot hanging out EVERYWHERE!! Now I have no issue with people at all if they're cool...these however, were not...they were drunk and still drinking, evidently there is a bar close by and as it was Friday night people were coupled up to do their business, if you catch my drift...no issue with this either, do what you do, but the paper thin walls had my 5 mo old waking up thru the night... He and I shared a bed as I wasn't getting two rooms for myself and my best friend who was with us..we shared a gross room together and kept watch for the roaches scurrying around on the walls and beds...I got little sleep due to the fact that I could just picture one of them crawling in my sons ear uggghh!! From the looks of the hotel I would assume they would be pet friendly, not so much (funny how the most run down hotels don't allow pets) and I felt like they should have, the cats would have perhaps helped with the big infestation just saying..anyhow, I have not once written a bad review but we had to leave my best friends well behaved clean cats (x2) in the car all night and sleep with filth and roaches and people partying all night outside the door...have a little control seriously...serious upgrade wouldn't hurt either...

Do not stay here. It shows apool in the amenities it is non existent. It is very scary because people who seem to live there on a perminent basis are loud and stoned or drunk the majority of the time. The room was extremely small and not real clean. The beds are so soft that if the person you are sharing a bed with moves, you think you are sleeping on a waterbed because it jiggles and moves. I would never stay here again. Almost forgot, if you are looking for a motel near the airport this would work it sits right in the landing and take off flight path so you can hear planes land and take off all day and into the night.

We had a decent stay at the Royal Inn & Suites. The people that run the place are friendly & helpful. The rooms are relatively clean. The furniture is okay but some of it is older. The airplane noise is annoying (the planes come down right overhead). The pool is nice but small. The area of town is not the greatest but we felt safe.

I just needed a place to crash for the night before my early flight, so I googled cheap hotels near the airport. I will NEVER do that again. Worst place I have been in my life. Stench of marijuana, cigarettes and musty old carpet almost made me throw up. I didn't want to touch anything in there. I felt like I was in some kind of drug house I've seen in crime tv. Upon arrival a creepy man approached me and asked if I was a new resident. I said no. I went in my room, turned on the air conditioner that barely worked and hovered the toilet to use the restroom. I laid on top of the sheets, although I didn't want to, but I was exhausted. I heard someone jiggle my door. NOPE...I COULD NOT STAY THERE. I grabbed my bag and booked it back downstairs to the office. I told Raj I COULD NOT stay here. He got angry and said why didn't I come right back down.... That's what people normally do. Therefore no one wants to stay there. He would not refund my money because I was there more than 15 minutes. I had to go get my car, drive it around the building, lug my stuff up to the second floor and then everything else previously mentioned. So I literally went up and back down, but he would not refund me. I wouldn't even let my dogs step foot in that room. That place needs to be shut down! I contacted my bank to cancel the transaction. We'll see if Raj, who admitted he wouldn't even stay there, gets to keep my money. I hope not!!! Royal Inn = Royal Trash
