Just got back from there. Stayed August 10-14. Stayed at site 21. 84 degrees in Cherokee, 53 at the top. Elk in the campgrounds every morning and evening. Saw lots of turkeys on the way up and down the mountain. Easier to find than I thought it would be. Dogs and kids very much o.k. No bears. Showers and bathrooms... More

Since moving within driving distance of the Blue Ridge area, my husband and I have camped at many different state parks and smaller campgrounds to take advantage of the natural surroundings. Mile High Campground is the first (and only) campground we have stayed at that had panoramic mountain views directly from the campsites. They were absolutely incredible! Sometimes we were... More

You really saw bears at mile high campground. For the last 7 years I've spent 6 - 8 weeks of my summer break at mile high and have yet to see a bear in the campground. Great. Views, yes! Primitive camping, yes! Hot showers & flush toilets, yes! Great hosts, yes! Bears , NO ! Keep your NPS and government... More

We stayed at the mile high campground over a weekend in june and had a delightful experience. The camp hosts were great, they will let you drive around and select your spot from what is available, and being off the beaten path if you want privacy you won't be disappointed! The campground is primitive with no water or power hookups... More

We loved Mile High Campground! It was exactly what we were looking for secluded, beautiful scenary, quiet and was a good sized campsite. We stayed in tent site 4 and were very pleased. The owner and hosts were very friendly. Saw plenty of turkey and elk in the area. An elk actually made an apperance in the campground the first... More

Great location. Restrooms are rustic but clean. Great views from the campsites.

This is a private campground right off the blue ridge parkway which is at a mile high elevation. Campground host was very friendly and accomodating for us to pick our own site. We chose site 21 which like many other sites offered spectacular mountain views and was also very spacious and private. If I was rating the views alone it... More

My husband and I and our friends have enjoyed this place now for many years. We usually come on Memorial Day weekend as we did this year. It did not seem like the camp was ready for guests. The bathrooms were not as clean as they could have been. The camp sink was filthy and clogged up. There was a... More

My husband and I were looking for a nice getaway for our 1 year anniversary. After reading reviews about MileHigh Campground, we decided this was our place. However after driving 7 & 1/2 hours to get there and checking in to our bunk house, we found a rickety shanty full of dirt, leaves, spiders, cob webs, etc. the floor was... More

Our family has gone the last two years and it was our best of the year both times. There are flushing toilets and hot showers for the wife and a sense of solitude on getting away for me. nothing to fancy but clean and well kept. We tent camp so its great in the middle of the summer since it... More
