1. Clean, comfortable rooms - very conducive to relaxing 2. Wonderfully presented and delicious breakfasts - NO need to visit McDonald's, as suggested by a previous reviewer (What was up with THAT???!!!!!!) 3. Friendly, helpful, experienced innkeeper - Liz made great recommendations on places to eat and things to see 4. Make-yourself-at-home atmosphere - Thanks, Liz! 5. Interesting decor throughout... As they say, to each his own and I stayed here despite of or actually, because of the last review that highlighted "the great McDonalds" after complaining about what turned out to be an egg souffle and an eclectic mix of decorations (not for those that appreciate a spartan or minimalist decor;-) I have not eaten at McDonalds in several... Okay, the last review here was 2011 and was good. What happened? There was a golf course but the owner wouldn't cut back the bushes to allow visitors to enjoy it. I didn't even know there was a golf course back there. Every sitting surface and table in the inn was covered with nick nacks, frames, dolls, doilies, and stuffed... More

Regarding the golf course and trees, we at Buttonwood Inn realizes some travelers want to see the course, the trees have remained to keep golfers-particularly, their carts-out of the yard. In addition, the trees help stop golf balls from coming into the yard, hitting the inn and breaking windows, also buffering noise and providing privacy for guests sitting on the... More

We stayed at the Buttonwood 4 nights whilst we were in town on business. We were a bit concerned of the heat issue mentioned in 2006 and whilst the days were in the 90s (supposedly, near record highs in nearby Charlotte), sleeping was not a problem as we had a ceiling fan and it dropped into the high 60s at... My daughter and I went to Franklin, NC to attend the Amy Grant/Michael W Smith Concert. We overnighted at the Buttonwood Inn. We were greeted very graciously by the owner, Liz. She showed us to our room and allowed us to get settled and relaxed. She gave us wonderful ideas of where to go after the concert. In the morning... More

While ending up on winding backroads at 12:30 A.M quickly realizing that most places were booked and I had no idea where I was going to stay, I tried to make calls to motels/hotels that came up in GPS in the intermittent areas where I had service. I was mortified to discover that I had contacted a bed and breakfast... More

My husband and I made a very last minute decision to head to Franklin for the weekend. After checking the Franklin Chamber of Commerce website for B&B's, I emailed Liz regarding availability late at night and saw an email the next morning. I confirmed our stay via email and got on the road. Liz was very helpful, recommending several local... More

Love the Buttonwood! Quiet country inn with a beautiful view of the golf course. The innkeeper, Liz Oehser, is a wonderful storyteller and an even better cook. Have stayed at the Buttonwood twice over the last 18 months. Both times I left relaxed and inspired to learn how to make souffle like Liz!

What luck to stumble upon this charming inn on a busy holiday weekend. Loved the woodsy setting. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I loved having the window open at night in July. Liz is a very warm hearted, friendly hostess who makes you feel at home and serves the most amazing breakfasts. A wonderful relaxed stay.

Stayed one night at the Buttonwood Inn while in Franklin on business. It was a warm day - 90 degrees and since the B & B has no air conditioning it was pretty warm. Rather cluttered but fairly clean. Grounds were okay but there were not many areas where you could sit and enjoy it. Breakfast was fair and innkeeper... More
