We didn't intend on staying in Highland but on an exploration weekend we stopped here. Figured we'd grab a more comfortable room for a bit more than the regular rooms and we were so comfortable on the end room 38 with the bay window we stayed a second night just because. My biggest impression was the staff and how nice... More

We have stayed here twice, used to stay at Old Creek Lodge (hate it that are no longer there) but we have found the accomodations to be adequate. Would love to see the property updated with newer carpet, baths with newer fixtures, etc.. Staff is always friendly and we love the fact that we can walk down Main Street and... More

I recently spent two nights at the Mountain High Lodge in Highlands, NC and found it to be a wonderful experience. The accomodations were clean, the service was wonderful and they were so helpful in so many ways. We took the room with the fireplace and found it to be very cozy.

We found our room to be a typical double motel-style room from the 60's with an adequate vanity and a tub and shower with superior water pressure. Since we had arrived late, we decided to leave the "do not disturb" sign on our door the next day when we left as we had plenty of clean linens. Upon our return... More

Non smoking rooms are not enforced as our room had a strong tobacco and musty moldy odor. Decor and wallpaper was ancient and stained. No visible signs of remodeling or upgrading in spite of managements claims. Location, staff and external grounds are adequate

We made an unexpected stop in Highlands because of a problem with our car. We chose the Mountain High Lodge because it is perfectly located within walking distance of the shops and restaurants in town. The first room we were assigned smelled of carpet freshener which was overwhelming. The accommodating manager assigned us another room in the deluxe building with... More

Went to Mountain High Lodge for a romantic getaway. Made advanced reservations and used credit card. At check in they gave us the wrong room number as we were trying to unlock the door we learned that the room was preoccupied. The room we stayed in was the deluxe with gas log fireplace and the room was $120. 00 for... More

My wife and I enjoyed our annual pre-Christmas vacation in Highlands, NC this year. We have visited Highlands several times but have never stayed overnight. With no sources for recommendations (except TripAdvisor)and without any knowledge of the hotels, lodges, and B&Bs, we selected the Mountain High Lodge for our two night stay (Thursday and Friday -- December 2 & 3)....
