Beware! The pictures on Shell Island Wrightsville's website look NOTHING like the actual hotel. That was our first disappointment, the hotel was unkept, unorderly, and showed no reason to be priced around $400 a night. The best parts? 1. These folks are amazing! I stay at this hotel often, and have always loved it. This last trip with a friend was unusual. We had such a bad smell in our room! I was so happy to find this place exceeded all my expectations! Clean, room ready well before check in time, beautiful views and affordable. Great little indoor and outdoor pools. This was a wonderful place to stay for a few days! They have a little kitchen in each room, it is basically like a small appartment....with a balcony....on the beach! The price was also great, our second choice for a hotel in this area was the Mariott on Carolina Beach. After driving by, we were very happy with our choice... More

We stayed at Shell Island for a weekend to attend a wedding there. The beach was beautiful and the wedding went off with out a hitch. The reception in the Shell Island resort was very very nice. We only stayed one night but were very impressed for many reasons: newly refurbished so units were very nice, each unit has 1.5 baths--very handy for getting ready, right on the beach--beautiful view, it's the northernmost building on the island next to a nature preserve so it is a great location--you can walk to the north point of the island...
