We stopped off at this great little motel on our trip around Cape Breton. The room decor was a bit dated and the room was a little stale. The room was well equipped with fridge and free wifi and the view of the lac bras d'or fantastic. The continental breakfast was adequate and self-service.

A wonderful motel to start the Cabot Trail from. Clean, comfortable rooms and a great morning breakfast to start. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights there. Had a lovely room overlooking the lake, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was lovely, pretty dining room. Breakfast baked goods were from a local bakery and very yummy. Gal at the front desk directed us to wonderful place along the trail.

When we arrived to check in, the lady at the reservation desk was wonderful. Very easy and efficient check in...asked her recommendation for a restaurant for dinner, and she had menus for three locals restaurants, plus told us of other restaurants we could go to! We thought we were getting a quiet room when we asked for a room off the street. Turns out, the one we got was noisy, dirty, and with a very uncomfortable bed. Our third night and just magic place, they put out a sign `Welcome Kiwi`s, for the 12 of us on the trip. If heading north into Baddeck, it is about 1-1 1/2 km before exit 7 (you will see signs for exit 7). You can't miss it (on the right). If you pass the Red Barn Restaurant, you have gone too far. We stayed here after our trip around the Cabot Trail.... basic Motel, but clean, and nice & quiet. Lovely location right on the Bras D'or Lake,... but west of Baddeck, on the highway; One of the best breakfasts we have ever had, so much choice, very friendly and helpful staff. Good Value for the money.....

We have just spent 3 night at the Trailsman. Rooms are basic but clean. A bit humid inside but you're right by the lake so it's to be expected I guess. The view is amazing.
