We booked for a prix fixe lunch to celebrate my grandmother's birthday. First the negative: although we booked a fixed price menu @£35 a head, and were drinking only mineral water, when the bill came it came to £190. We were told this was because we had ordered from the a la carte menu. Unfortunately as we had only been... More

You have to stay here just to say that you have done. Outstanding grounds, go in the boat for a nominal amount and hear about the scandal that rocked the government back in the day. Food great in a grand environment. But you have to pay through the nose to experience this. Deals are out there, look for them! More

We went to Cliveden this Sunday for lunch and had a wonderful time! The door man was really friendly and very helpful and set the tone for a wonderful experience. The food was divine. Staff were attentive but not over bearing. I requested a pinio grigio and was recommended an alternative that was zesty and lemony and just as described... More

There must be very few places in the world where common mortals can stay in such a magnificent House teaming with so much history. The house itself is extremely impressive, with a vacuous hall, all wood-paneled (including ceiling). One is transported back into the early 20th century when this House experienced its finest hour. Particularly the central, public, parts of... More

We had our wedding in Cliveden. I could not imagine a better place for our special day. Cliveden has a great aura and there is this "historical feel" about it that makes you feel like you are in the 19th century. The view and its land are spectacular. Service was exceptional, stuff was really friendly, food was great. We did... More

We called in for Afternoon tea on a Sunday - not having prebooked - just a chance call. The tea was splendid as one would expect for a hotel the stature of Cliveden; however the French waiter who served us was so sniffy we were almost tempted to ask him if he was an Astor on hard times! No matter... More

We’ve been staying at Cliveden for special occasions for the past 25 years and recently visited again for my husband’s 60th birthday celebrations. It’s still a magical place to stay, with a wonderful sense of history. However, it is clear to see that it is under new management and needs a good injection of cash from the new owners to... More

The title is not an exaggeration; on first arrival, my jaw did indeed drop at site of the house - it is just absolutely stunning. All the staff at the hotel where extremely helpful & welcoming. Despite its grand stature, Cliveden House also has a very homely feel and I continually had to pinch myself to remind me that I... More

Staying in Cliveden really does take one back in time. It is a spectacular National Trust owned house in one of the most beautiful estates in this part of England. While the house is now operated as a hotel, the interiors have been kept much as they would have been when it was a private house. So the bedrooms have... More
