Stayed in mini suite pleasant views over farmland. Very clean, good breakfast and the staff were very helpful. Recommend a visit to Chester a beautiful place the racecourse is like a park. A terrific display of topiary. park there for £4 a day and walk 5 mins. to the centre

I'm really confused by this hotel. The approach shows a magnificent half-timbered building. This gives a clue to what you find inside. It's over 120 years old so is 'tired'. Seems to be understaffed...long wait at reception./bar .Arrived after busy wedding reception which had taken place the day before and room was not ready in time.Double room was adequate but basic.Housekeeping needs better organisation.On the whole enjoyed the visit.
